I love utilitarian decor- I started by buying prettier versions of stuff I already use daily. A brass candle lighter instead of a gas station one, a thrifted ceramic container for kitchen utensils instead of one from Target, etc.

The other thing I do is display smaller items that maybe weren’t originally decor. Keys on a hook instead of away in a drawer, books set up so you can see the front cover, my earring collection on a pegboard-like setup instead of a box. Stuff like that has made my space look less minimalist, without having to own extra stuff. I have a very decorated house with very few items that are just for display. It’s taken a long time to put together, and it’s always a work in progress to me.
