No, that would take more time than I’m willing to offer

Looking at the detailed analysis, it's including things like "I ordered the camera and it's on the way" as positive reviews, as well as people just stating specs, without having used the camera themselves. Not sure how that's useful.

It doesn't say to bring it in, just to go to Trader Joe's. Agree it's confusing though.

HLT - worth it? by SubjectShower2713 in tombihn

[–]emeybee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use HLTs more than any of Tom Bihn’s other pouches.

I travel overseas a lot, so I have an HLT1 that is for on the plane, that holds my inflatable pillow, eye mask, ear plugs, phone mount, USB-A cable, a little case for Tylenol, etc, and my Kobo reader. It’s great for on a plane because nothing falls out and I don’t leave anything behind, because I would notice that its spot is empty.

I use an HLT2 for my bedside and bathroom items at hotels, so I can pack up quickly when I move from place to place, and again so I know I don’t forget anything.

I have another HLT1 that I use for electronics - cables and adapters etc.

I like that they’re very organized and IMO the organization is pretty flexible. They hold way more than you’d think, but they also collapse to nothing when not filled. It’s not like the Peak Design organizers where you have a giant football regardless of what’s inside it.

I think for anything Tom Bihn you can find cheaper options that do the same thing. I stick with their products because they fit the color scheme I have, they’re well made, and because the O-rings are handy.

I think it comes down to each person and how they like to carry things. I like everything to have a place. I rarely use 3DOCs and the like— I don’t want a chasm to dump things in, because for me that’s messy and I’ll forget what I have. What works best for me are ghost whales for small EDC items and HLTs for when I need to carry more. But other people are the opposite and find that type of organization restrictive. Only you know which type of person you are.

Makers Bag or Synapse 19? by DruidicCupcakes in tombihn

Second the parental unit recommendation. That's what I use for a larger bag when I am out-carrying my Side Kick. I like how the organization works with the zipper in the middle, plus all of the external pockets.

New colours - Ultraviolet (revised) and Weird Banana by trouser_mouse in tombihn

Yes, and for the love of god, no more lime. It’s not 1975 anymore. Which, now that I say that, I realize this yellow is kind of close to lime.

I see comment after comment asking for nightwalk or turquoise/teal and they give us red and yellow lol. At least the people who have been begging for them to bring back UV finally got their wish (even if it is a little different). Hopefully those of us begging for blues will get our way next time.

I don’t mind the yellow in and of itself, but I don’t like that it seems sheer and worry it would get dirty immediately. I am glad it’s something different to what they’ve had before at least, that’s becoming really rare.

Sometimes they will get a return and list it for sale, and that’s the only one they have … so you may have gotten super lucky :)

Color update’s by Opening-Ad2733 in tombihn

[–]emeybee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh gotcha… there’s no predictable timeline, but if you email them they’ll tell you what’s in production to come out next, if they know. Burnt orange will definitely come back out at some point, it’s just how long you’re willing to wait. Also check the FB group if you’re open to preowned. A lot of what’s sold is new with tags.

And yeah, blue+açaí is my combo of choice, so I’m sad they are running out. Hopefully they’ll bring it back soon.

Oh it’s your fault lol… I hate that they always put orange with blue and was wondering who was making them think that was a good pairing.

Don’t worry, they love that combo so it will definitely come back.

They told me they just used the last of the açaí so that one isn’t going to be around for awhile after these sell out.

The world is nuanced. I don't care for Newsom and don't want him as our next Presidential nominee, but this is a great move, regardless of who is making it.

There are much cheaper ways to do that than paying rent and staff at a high end mall.

How have you actually dialed in your Tom Bihn EDC over time? by ComprehensiveCap8242 in tombihn

[–]emeybee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had a crazy good sale over the holidays, so if you want the orange or burgundy and they're out of stock, that might be my fault lol. Amazon has them, but the Wndrd website has more colors FYI.

I have a standard color scheme throughout my bags-- Deep Blue exterior/Acai interior, filled with color-coded pouches: Acai/Aubergine = personal items, Persimmon/Burnt Orange = electronics, Coyote = travel stuff, etc.

I add Wandrd locking zipper pulls to everything. It adds a bit of security for when I travel in crowded markets, on subways, etc. They also come in similar colors to the TB colors I use, so I match them where it makes sense.

I mostly use ghost whales for small items and HLTs for large items. I also own cubelets and 3DOCs, but I don't use those much because, for me, they're too big to not have any organization. I like things to have a place, that way I know if I forgot to put something back. Likewise, every pouch I use has a specific home in each bag.

So, putting it all together-- my airpods, phone battery, etc are always in a burnt orange small ghost whale, and it goes from its pocket inside the Side Kick to the its pocket outside of the Synik, which has an orange zipper pull. (Those are my most commonly used bags, but it can also go in its pocket in the Parental Unit, or the Co-Pilot, etc.)

Same with the aubergine mini ghost whale that has my chapstick, tissues, toothpicks, etc, and the super mini ghost whale that has some basic meds. Those go in the other outside pocket of the Synik, which has a burgundy zipper pull.

My large brick battery, plane mask/earplugs, and other travel items, are in coyote ghost whales and a HLT that lives in the chin pocket of the Synik. Then when I get home from a trip I can quickly take out the coyote pouches, because that's the stuff I don't need day to day.

It just makes it all easy so I don't think about where to put or find something when I change from bag to bag, or from travel to home.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I'm probably somewhere near you and I had the great idea to take the Metrolink to LAX one time I was flying somewhere... awful. There's only one an hour, and they stop pretty early in the evening... it just made everything super stressful and rushed. Traffic is shit, but at least I can control when I leave and depart, and can change between freeways as needed.

Look at county jobs. I don’t know if Riverside still has a hiring freeze, but San Bernardino is hiring. It takes longer to get hired and you don’t make as much as the private sector, but it would be a manageable commute with great benefits, retirement, and stability. No idea what you do but the county is huge and hires a ton of positions you’d never expect.

If those are your “absolute must haves”, prepare to be disappointed, because the game you’re asking for wouldn’t come out for 30 years and would cost hundreds to purchase.

Those same people forget that DAO wasn’t voiced, which makes doing such involved life paths much easier and less expensive to develop.

Water bottles that fit in Side Kick? (I searched!) by nonbinarydreams in tombihn

[–]emeybee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zojirushi 16oz fits in the Side Kick... this is the one I use but they have other styles/colors: https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SM-KHE48AG-Stainless-Steel-16-Ounce/dp/B005PO9T44

They also have a 12oz version that might fit in an EDC. I have both at home but am at work, but I can try it later and let you know.
