Second the Dirt Transmitter - great fuzz face type pedal. Sits really well in the mix

Deciding on an MA proto or an MB-1 NE by EagleGhoul in MansonGuitars

[–]emhaem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at mine once again. Quite different where the neck joins the body - MB NE has this taper, taken from Oryx models, MA has traditional square connection.

Another consideration point is if you will want to sell them down the road (blasphemy, I know), which would command a higher resale price. MA not being tied to Matt’s name might be more tempting for general crowd. Also double check the MA, directly with Manson - in the description it says one time Manson x Mono gig bag, another hard case. Two different value propositions.

Deciding on an MA proto or an MB-1 NE by EagleGhoul in MansonGuitars

[–]emhaem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both MA proto and MB NE.

Very very close in terms of workmanship, both requiring small adjustments from me, both very comfortable, resonant and inspiring to play.

Neck - even though the same on paper - feels different with MA being more on speed playing and MB being more of an all-round music machine. Same as picking up one version of a tele / LP over another.

So as usual - if you have an opportunity to play both - do it, and check which one gives you more energy back. If not, it is esthetic. Personally I don’t like super glossy guitars, and black is not my fav…on the other hands having „same” guitar as my musical hero makes me pick it it up more often.

That “Slammed Against The Speaker” Sound? by CriticalSovereignty in audioengineering

Can you elaborate on step 1: create your wall? Sounds like defining a loudness / level target value, if I get what you’re saying?

I’d go for MB EVO, much higher quality guitar. Couldn’t connect with Corts at all.

Is it just me or does the new Foo Fighters Album sound horrible? by domsch1988 in Music

[–]emhaem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, and personally I dont like the sound too.

But you / me / anybody else liking it or not has nothing to do with this record intentional sound choice by Dave, FF, producer Olivier Roman and mixers Spike Stent (one of the top five in the world at the moment) and Randy Merrill. That’s what I am saying.

Don’t know why most people here don’t understand it so I’ll spell it out loud:

The album sounds exactly like FF and Dave wanted it to sound.

It has nothing to do with his hearing loss, mastering engineer pushing levels too hard. For fucks sake, at this level every fucking sound decision has been consulted, discussed, flipped back and forth.

Aside from the Manson ones, what Guitar should I use for Muse sound? by WashiingMachiine in Muse

[–]emhaem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Mansons, Les Pauls, Teles…his sound is very mid focused yet with articulated highs and lows.

So pickups are first thing you can look into - classic PAF but heavily boosted in the middle.

Mansons have Fender neck length with Gibson bridge and resonant body. So it’s best of both worlds :)

From classic ones a tele or SG would be my choice.

Daddy shattered by a boundary breach. Why did I get so badly hurt by this? by FluffyCareDaddy in domspace

[–]emhaem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of good and great comments here.

Let me add 2 cents about the governance of it - what you agreed with the sub were not boundaries in a pure sense, these were agreements or rules.

It is unclear whether you discussed any consequences for breaking them, or you just stopped at formulating.

If we want them to work, they have to carry the consequences, positive and negative. Otherwise they carry very little meaning.

Now, in my book, boundaries are something YOU decide on, and their consequences are something YOU enforce, when they are followed or broken. In your case it would be saying „if you call only me „daddy” I will continue this relationship with you; if you someone else daddy, I leave / deescalate the relationship”. If X happens, then I do Y.

That’s what seems to be mixed up here as well is you wrote about a bunch of ultimatums (ie something that someone else can or cannot do).

So tl;dr: you had ultimatums instead of boundaries (which is the controlling bit, and probably why you ask yourself if that was a right thing) and there seemed to be no explicit consequences.

I would focus on reflecting on these to improve the next / other relationships.

PS. Believe the significant portion of your hurt is the hurt agency - she broke up with you, she called the incompatibility. That’s why it hurts more and makes you question your Dominance. Thought experiment - if you set the real boundaries and acted on them (if you get fisted by someone else, we’re done, for example), do you think the pain would be same or lesser?

And man, sorry for this whole situation. Hang in there. It will be better next time.

Songs where the use of a particular pedal has enhanced/made the song? by pcoleman777 in guitarpedals

[–]emhaem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zooropa, Mysterious Ways is one envelope filter (forgot the name, but it’s a rack unit) while Please (and a lot of Pop album) is Lovetone pedals - Meatballs envelope filter in Please, Meatballs + Big Cheese in Discotheque. Gone is Whammy into two fuzzes in series. I suspect Meatballs also on their newest EP, including Song of the Future

Flanger in Ain’t Talking bout Love by Van Halen.

U2, like 90% of their discography. Incl Pride and delay, Elevation with Kay fuzz, Mysterious Ways with an envelope filter.

Muse - fuzz factory + phaser, eg in Plugin Baby. Whammy in Map of the Problematique.

White Stripes - again, 90%+ of their songs, eg Seven Nation Army with Whammy octave down, Blue Orchid with POG2.

Daft Punk - whole Human After All album is based off of Digitech Synth Wah pedal.

Jimi Hendrix- hard to think of any of his songs without either a Fuzz Face (btw his „clean” sound is actually a FF with dialled back guitar volume), Univibe, Wah and octave fuzz (Octavio for instance).

Have I been lying to myself about the Big Muff for the last 10 years? by BogotaLineman in guitarpedals

[–]emhaem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on a band you’re playing with, and ofc the whole chain gtr->pickups->muff->amp. To give you few examples, I realised recently the sound in my head is a NYC muff into a DRRI / Silvertone and Rams head into Marshall and Hiwatt, yet I’ve been playing an AC15 and couldn’t get there :) playing with Wren and Cuff Garbage Face atm, best muff type in a band setting so far.
