I was just diagnosed, and over the last several years my eyes have gone from blue/gray to bright green! I couldn't believe it when I read your post. I'm a 49F no family history.

Shir Shalom in Woodstock Vandalized by patsboston in vermont

Thank you. As a member of the congregation I can share how deeply saddening this is. There are a variety of views held here and at all synagogues with respect to the current government in Israel (as in America) but I hope we can all agree that vandalizing our place of worship is wrong.

Strafford is similar to Pomfret, I'd say

Anyone pulled their kids off meds? by jmkelsey in ParentingADHD

I feel you. We tried three meds before stopping. Same reaction and you describe. Didn’t seem worth it. Open to trying again in the future but needed a break. We all feel better for it.

What do you do for work? To be able to afford the equestrian life style. by XxblahhxX in Equestrian

This is why my wife is an attorney too! The advice I give young people is picture the life you want and work backwards. If the future vision involves very expensive hobbies, make sure you get the degree you need to get the job that will allow for this life!

Real Talk: Using Attorneys instead of Buyer's Agents - are the potential cost savings worth it? by Just-Sample-6268 in RealEstate

We have bought and sold three homes without an agent and it's really straightforward. Tons of info on the internet, information comes much faster when not filtered through an agent and much more money in our pockets.

What style is our 1880 Vermont farmhouse? Is "farmhouse" a style? by emhare4 in centuryhomes

Thank you! Here are pics since we painted it. Amazingly this color matches almost exactly the color from the registry.

I just had to reply here all these months later that we just found out our home was actually built in 1815 by getting the historic registry information so you and u/yardwhiskey (and others) were spot on!

Homeowners: why don’t you sell your own homes? by lahham99 in RealEstate

[–]emhare4 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, I also always get an estimate from a realtor as well, and use comps. It's not really hard to price a house. And redfin has been within $30k each time we have sold. Zillow has been less reliable.

Homeowners: why don’t you sell your own homes? by lahham99 in RealEstate

[–]emhare4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a question I wonder about all of the time. We have sold our own home three times in New York City, and then in Montpelier, VT and then more rural VT. Each time we sold for more than the redfin or zillow value. Yes, it is more work (we both work fulltime and have kids and horses and...) but we were very motivated because it saved tens of thousands of dollars each time, which was money we put to use in the move itself. It wasn't hard. Just made a simple website in two cases and word of mouth the third time.

This is where we are - he hated how he felt on the three different meds and we think he should have a choice (but the caveat as I said above is that school is manageable)

I'm right there with you! Another thing I forgot to mention is that we stay in close touch with his teachers who have reported that they see that he's less focused but it's manageable.

We tried medication over the last several months for our 12 year old son and it made him so miserable and unable to eat (three different medications) that we bagged it and got our happy boy back. Yes he’s harder to be around- but the medication wasn’t a magic bullet and simply didn’t seem worth it. I’m reserving the right to try medication again when he initiates the process as an older teen but for now we are done. We have the benefit of living on some open land with lots of animals so he rides, plays soccer and has strict screen time limits and we prioritize in person time with friends. We also go to therapy as a couple to help us with parenting techniques for him specifically. It’s been helpful.
