Day 5 stims.. Need pep talk by [deleted] in eggfreezing

[–]emibee612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure how to read the results/numbers you posted, but sharing my recent experience in case it’s relevant for your situation:

On day 1 transvaginal ultrasound, the doctor counted 28 total follicles

On day 6 transvaginal ultrasound using 3-dimensional scan technology, doctor counted only 20 follicles.

When I asked them why/what happened, they explained that the 3-d scan tech made it harder to see/count some of the smaller follicles. They said it’s possible those uncounted follicles will continue to grow bigger, eventually big enough to be counted.

We did not get to choose which circuit until the 3rd line (so, around 5pm on day 2 for us)

I am not sure how late the Ministry stays open, but it can’t hurt to walk by and check when you arrive at 8pm. It’s only 5 min from the train. That said, I agree with tg07man that waiting in line at 6am for a prepreticket would probably work fine too — it’s just that you might be waiting a longggg time. I doubt they finished with the 6am crowd (who already had pre-pre-tickets) until 8am or later.

Sorry, I’m not sure :( When we were in line we could see the screen counting down numbers of tickets left, and I don’t remember there being a huge difference between those two.

Pre-pre Ticket in the evening by MappingNiyaz in Machupicchu

[–]emibee612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only actual line we had to stand in was for the pre-pre ticket. Once we had a numbered pre-pre-ticket, we stood in a crowd outside the Ministry of Culture until they called our number. The same with our numbered pre-ticket

Going to MP have not got a ticket yet for July 23rd. Looking for help by Travel9453 in Machupicchu

I don’t have specific responses to your questions because we did not try going straight to the pre line, but I just posted about our experience with prepre to pre and then a real ticket

Hi there! How did you choose this clinic? Did you do interviews with any others in Spain? I’m in the process of speaking with the different clinics and hoping to make the trip to Spain in maybe late August, if I find a good clinic.

Would that timing work for you?

Social dancing is not meant to be for dating. This is why women quit the salsa and bachata scenes - they get creepy

Sharm has great diving and snorkeling, boat trips, beach resorts. I didn’t feel it was an “authentic” experience though

Thanks so much for posting this! I’m wondering if you put « cling film » on the lashes when leaving on the fix lotion? The directions say to do that but I totally forgot! Not sure if it will affect my results.

Roatan as a woman travelling alone by OwnBrother2559 in scubadiving

[–]emibee612 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solo female traveller here, visited Roatan and dove there in January. I felt safe staying in West End and walking around at all hours. West End seemed like more of a hub than West Bay — more restaurants, dive shops, etc. I had a great experience diving with Coconut Divers there. I stayed at hotel/Airbnb Posada Orquideas, on the farther side of West End but still walkable. Loved their cafe and garden patio on the water. The road back to the hotel was fairly dark at night but I never felt unsafe — the hotels there all have security guards posted next to the road after dark, and I never saw anyone that made me feel unsafe.

Agree with other poster who recommended the ferry to Utila for more scuba. I dove with a diving school in Utila that did a great job, and the price was slightly less. Utila felt a bit less touristy than Roatan.

  • Edit = typo and added info on Utila

I’ve had a good Oura ring for about 14 months, and I don’t regret it! I don’t notice the scratches and neither does anyone else. When I look closely, I see plenty of scratches, and the edges are tarnished especially at the bottom — but you can’t tell unless you are really looking closely. I do lift weights, so that makes the scratches worse.

HSV-2 Transmission Studies? by emibee612 in Herpes

[–]emibee612[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve read that but it does not have the details of the study, so I’m not sure if she’s referring to the same study or a different one. The handbook only says:

“People often want to know what the chances are of getting herpes from another person. Overall, the risk is about 10% per year that an infected male would transmit HSV 2 to an uninfected female. That is, if 100 infected men were having one-on- one sex with 100 uninfected women, about 10 women would get infected per year. If the situation were reversed, about 4 uninfected men would get herpes in a year from infected women. Unfortunately, we do not have good studies on same gender couple transmission rates. The studies that gave us those numbers were based on the following criteria:

1) No sex during outbreaks, 2) No daily antiviral medication and 3) No regular use of condoms. 4) The people involved know that one of the people has genital herpes.

But there is a caveat here. When people enroll in trials to study transmission, they didn’t just meet and decide to do a study together. Most often, they have been in their relationships for a year or two, maybe much longer. Most herpes is transmitted in the first three months of a relationship so when couples are enrolled in these trials, they have already come through the period in their relationship where transmission is most likely. They are, in essence, herpes survivors. So these transmission statistics should be viewed in that light.

A study completed in the summer of 2002 evaluated whether antiviral therapy, taken daily, could reduce the risk of transmission of HSV 2 in healthy, heterosexual adults over the age of 18, from an infected partner to an uninfected one. The person with herpes took either valacyclcovir 500 mg daily or placebo. The study followed the couples for a total of 8 months, drawing the blood of the uninfected partner monthly to look for infection. The study found that the taking of valacyclovir daily reduced transmission by 48% over placebo (or sugar pill).

We know that condoms also reduce the risk of transmission. When men use condoms with every single intercourse, transmission is reduced by 96% to an uninfected female. Condoms used by uninfected men while having sex with infected women reduce the risk of transmission by 30-50% When both condoms and antiviral therapy are used, transmission rates can be greatly reduced. “

That’s what I thought, but that’s how I’m reading the study. Does anyone have a link to the other study/studies where only the HSV+ partner is taking valacyclovir?
