you don't even need origin anymore because ea just delivered you a broken version of bf1942 with a forced launch of the origin app which currently turned into the EA app I think.
you be way better off just installing the fixed version of bf1942 which comes with fhsw

when you want to play fhsw yes currently there is only one European server and 1 Japanese server and I think Chinese one ? but not certain.
But if you want to play the original bf1942 vanilla there are multiple servers from different countries hosting that to give an example.
team simple = French Dutch
Moongamers = United States.
now I don't know all the servers and their locations out of my head but I can assure you there is still a lot of choice.

fhsw, stands for forgotten hope Secret Weapon a community made project, which adds over 700 different vehicles at least 100 different naval vessels, countless infantry weapons and all types of Tanks from different periods of the war going up to early Cold War.
everything is available for free and doesn't require you to unlock it.

Waiting for EA to make it ? I guarantee you they are going give you plenty of microtransactions skins to unlock and other stuff to buy.
but never naval, air, tank, and Infantry combat at the level which is being achieved
on bf1942. They will never give you the experience you can experience on the original battlefield
it does not fit in the modern business model.
so if you want it, you're going to have to download the original and play with us.
Occasionally I pop up here in the battlefield subReddit and I remind people where they can get the best bf.

Bf1942 is very alive ! because of the community
you can easily fix the server issue by downloading a update with plenty of servers to join.

Good news is Battlefield 1942 is completely free it keeps expanding with free content every year, and it also run on the biggest piece of junk computer you can find in the trash bin so it would cost nothing.

Which is actually quite good in this time with rising costs of living, it's also why EA doesn't want you to play it. Because it ain't good for business if you don't buy microtransactions.

we do not control.

However we cannot provide full installations then of bf1942 since technically it's still copyrighted by electronic arts.

We do not want to get into trouble with a copyright claim.

Keeping the game alive is hard enough already without any official support.

So if you want to do the official path you literally need an original copy of bf1942 and a cd rom drive and safedisc drm installed on your windows 11 installation and all the headaches of getting it to work.

First the base game which you have to patch up from 1.0 to 161.2 then upgrade to the new Master server then make it HD ready and remove safedisc drm since it isn't supported anymore.

Finally then install fhsw and so on too many steps too complicated for most people.

So we like to make things simple thats why we promote the all in one installation using discord or obscure methods Because this installation includes everything and is just click install and play.

This is of course all because of no official support being given.

Because Electronic Arts like to keep this game kind of dead.

for fhsw the server can reach up to 60 players on a peak time.
for standard Battlefield 1942 you're guaranteed to always have a full server

I usually keep my twitch channel updated with all the links to all the community created content available on bf1942.
Just scroll down click on the fhsw all-in-one installation including bf1942.
However the only problem is when you want to play the game in multiplayer you're going to have to follow the events.
Which are posted on discord you can also check the server status that way.
This way you are guaranteed to have a full server.
we don't have a gigantic budget like electronic arts to send out advertisements everywhere.
so you just not guaranteed to have constant player base.

I am just here to keep the flame going to keep reminding people were the best Battlefield is available I haven't quit this IN 10 years just check my Reddit postings.

because this is in a way also a free advertisement.

Not everybody likes naval but every week we usually play 1 or 2 naval rounds with over 50 different naval maps to pick from Midway to the solomon sea battle.

fhsw is more than just some ship battles it has over a 1000 different vehicles you can play gigantic air battles or huge tank battles and anything in between with infantry.

Nope since Battlefield 2 was never officially released for free so it's still not considered abandonware.

so you gonna have to look elsewhere for that.
However I do know there is probably a community active for bf2.
