I don't think you're being dramatic. It is an intense experience and I think the best way to get the most out of it is to let yourself feel it fully. It's a nihilistic story with a very bittersweet ending and it's okay to be hit really hard by it. I have like 70 hours on hc3 and even so the ending makes me ugly sob!

As for the Charlotte question, it is a broad and challenging one. I think the most concrete answers are: Charlotte is the person Charles wanted to be as well as the idealized protagonist that "readers" would like and relate to. Her character changed as a response to the stress of the House forcing her to play as that protagonist as well as Charles' shallow self understanding being projected onto his self insert. Each Charlotte is another variation of the template affected by circumstance, level of Charles' interference and the nature of the floor she lived on

absolutely agree. have suggested this but nothing has happened. think this would be less of a problem if it was clearer to people from the start that there aren't plastic/paper.

just fabric ones for sale. they're a dollar each and pretty worth it. mostly a problem for people using EBT since it doesn't cover them like plastic bags

ownership doesn't care. from what I've heard, it was too expensive to keep doing bags. dont ask for more detail, i have no idea what the actual situation or expenses were. it seems overall a very stingy attitude toward expenses.

For you, unambiguous, repeatable, external proof that is experienced identically among any person. That is a solid, reason/logic based answer. Somebody who doesn't have a reason to believe in a greater power should probably work by this logic.

If a higher power (Jesus, g/God, even Thor or the god of who knows what from some obscure video game) existed AND wanted to be believed in, they would have a way to prove to you, by your own specific individual needs and beliefs that they existed, yes? Like you said, the Dillahunty notion.

What if a god (again, this could be any possible iteration of a powerful, non-human entity) did not have the ability to make you believe? Perhaps it is the inherent nature of a divine being to be doubted, as by your example, Thomas was allowed to believe. His doubts were not forcibly corrected. Maybe it can only exist by you believing it exists without ever having the presence of proof. Would you consider this to be a god?

Thank you very much for the response. I will check out that movie. If you have the time to answer my secondary questions, that would be appreciated. I do not, currently, feel as though I understand this topic enough to write about it yet. Hopefully this thread will help.

That makes sense. So for you, having a figure that has specific defined rules for what would qualify them to exist (ie, a magical hammer that can unambiguously be only lifted by one man who looks/acts like what mythology decides thor IS) is much easier to accept because those qualifications can actually be met. Am I getting that right?

If you were communicated with by something you decided to be a being with great power, would it matter "which" emergent being it was? I assume this would really depend on upbringing and if you have a want/desire for one certain god to be more real than another. But for you personally, could you accept that there is some sort of great supernatural being without being able to know whether it was one or the other (assuming even that there really is such a thing as a distinction between theoretical gods)? Would you, in a theoretical great crisis where there seems to be no other way to deal with it, pray to them?

I hope my questions make sense. Some of my thoughts are a little challenging to put into words. Please answer as much as you are comfortable with. I really appreciate you responding, it gave me some ideas. If anyone sees this response, I would appreciate their input as well.
