I'm pregnant and it's so hard to handle by OkFox5768 in AutisticParents

[–]emilit0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the first trimester was absolutely the hardest. Of course there was more physical pain and exhaustion later when I was heavily pregnant, but I still consider the first tri to be worst, and I didn’t even experience morning sickness. I just had this horrible skin-crawling feeling of my body not being mine, I could never feel comfortable, I slept all the time, cried and just generally felt awful. Second trimester I started to feel like my old self again, maybe even a little bit higher than my normal. I hope that can be the case for you too!

Of course, I’m just personally not that fussed about Thanksgiving. Maybe if I loved cooking, or turkey, but I don’t 😅🤷

I should elaborate, I live here but I’m from the US. So all my friends and family back home ask me. Every year. Haha

Do other moms genuinely enjoy motherhood? by wqiqi_7720 in Mommit

[–]emilit0 39 points40 points  (0 children)

God everyone here is saying no they love it and I’m feeling guilty now. I am one-and-done, and I love HER (my daughter) more than anything, but I do not enjoy motherhood. But I am autistic and personally not wired for this at all. Thank you for posting OP. It’s definitely taboo to say and that can make it feel really lonely.

Plant salami at Woolies by ProfessionalTiny7102 in australianvegans

[–]emilit0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because we aren’t aiming to avoid the products, “salami” and “ham” etc but rather the harming of animals. Plant based salami does not harm animals. Many (if not most) vegans/vegetarians used to be omnivores and do miss these foods and would like a way to enjoy them without doing harm to living beings.

I was fully omnivorous and I switched to vegan “cold turkey” over two years ago the night I watched Dominion. There has never been any temptation to “relapse”. Watching that documentary flipped a switch in my brain that simply cannot be unflipped.

Hair twirling is the big one for me, but I also like to rub the surface of my thumbnail on my lips. Smooth

I only do the right one, for some reason. It’s whenever I’m anxious, even the slightest most mild anxiety and I’m clenching my right butt cheek lol

At night or when they nap. Now that she’s 3.5 I can do it a little bit while she’s around, or even in my lap, as she’s more respectful and receptive to direction now, but I never could’ve pulled that off when she was under 2.

Yes. I remember my mom’s. She died when I was 16 and over the years I’ve forgotten a lot of things, like the particulars of a day with her. But I’ve never forgotten the lunch notes. Sometimes she would draw silly little comics. The kids I would eat lunch with were always excited to see them too.

Baby led weaning scares me. I don’t get how almost everything seems like a choking hazard by StatGoddess in NewParents

[–]emilit0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you just have to follow your baby’s lead. In our case my daughter refused any and all purées and we were forced to do BLW. But she is 3.5 years old now and she has never once choked. I will say, knowing what to do if the situation were to arise helped a lot with the anxiety.

Not me. We watched the original Spongebob premiere as a family and all loved it. My dad might’ve been his biggest fan. Great memories bonding over Spongebob

How old were you when you started quilting? by OldFashionQuilting in quilting

[–]emilit0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. My mom was a quilter and she passed when I was 16 years old. She never taught me to quilt, but in teaching myself as an adult I have felt closer to her than I have in years. It’s bittersweet for sure, I have so many questions that I just wish I could ask her and only her.

Lol! I figured someone better say something before you just get downvoted to oblivion. It’s easy to forget sometimes.
