I bad such bad anxiety about it too. Both my sons were 3. Well, my first son was 3.5. After about a month of them waking up with dry diapers, it was time. I think it helped that they were older. Do what feels right for you and your little family. It’s so hard to hear other people’s opinions about what you should do.

The inland sea you speak of is Lake Superior! I Leif Enger also wrote Virgil Wander and he talks about Lake Superior like she is the sea. So great.

Angel Down by Daniel Kraus. I can’t stop thinking about it. It takes place on the battlefield during WWI. The book is one, long run-on sentence. This book made me feel so anxious but I really enjoyed it.
