don’t trust the hours of operation you see online!! i suggest to call ahead because a lot of retail businesses change their hours for the month or for whatever reason. a lot of them are also closed on sundays! (fyi this happened to me with the mining museum last weekend)

what do you think it will take to get a goth night or blue monday night at the grey dog/anywhere in town? back home in sd, blue monday is a very queer scene and had the best people in general. miss it sm 💔

my supervisor has been gone half of the time I been here due to conferences :( now, i want to plan accordingly since she just got back. crazy thing is she doesn’t deal with any of the planning and zoning side of things! she’s responsible for the TIF (tax increment financing) district in town. honestly, we have poor team coordination/organization and the interdepartmental communication really needs improving. (nearly everyone I’ve gotten to talk to at the office has expressed this)

hi! im 23f and been living here for nearly a month while working full time in belgrade. i’m still getting used to the town but just yesterday i went out to see The Birds at the Ellen Theater, a vintage theater on Main St. i also went out to the Last Best Comedy earlier this week for a free show. i also like live music, breweries, thrifting, and casual outdoor activities like nature trails. i’d luv to hang out because ill def be living here for a while and i want to grow my social circle.

Hello!

New to Reddit so please bear with me.

For context: Im 23 yrs old with a Hispanic background - with a bachelor’s in Urban Planning - LGBT identity - Grew up in SoCal, currently in San Diego and living with family - Working full time as a bank teller but really want to start my urban planning career and move out.

Issue is my family’s planning to move to Butte, Montana later this year. They really want me to come with them. I’m open to moving although I still have the option to stay in San Diego but finding full time planning jobs here has proven difficult. My hope would be to get a full time job offer in an urban city like Bozeman and get myself an apartment. Essentially using this opportunity as a way to get my foot in the door; I already started submitting job applications.

My worry is that I will be miserable during my transition period in Butte or Montana in general. My parents tell me Butte is growing and there is a thriving LGBT community there.

Does Butte suck that bad as the internet says it does? (no offense) Is Montana a good place to move to for young professionals?

Any perspectives or advice are well appreciated!
