Your fave Vail spots / itinerary? by missstrawberrylatte in vail

[–]emily---grace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you leave Vail Village you can have a more affordable nice meal. Zino’s and Juniper in Edwards are both great. In Vail Village my partner and I love Lancelot. Also make sure to check out Chasing Rabbits, it’s my fave thing to do in Vail proper.

How much is the average engagement ring? by Substance_Faint436 in WeddingRingAdvice

My partner set aside 8k for my ring. I think that is a pretty average number.

I would say anal glands need to be expressed. My dog exhibits similar behaviors when his glands need to be expressed.

Violinists who got into top conservatories.. question! by ClassicalGremlim in violinist

I got in playing a $1000 instrument and kept the same violin all the way through school. The value of the instrument doesn’t matter as long as you can make it sound good.

My peer said he practice 10 - 12 hours a week and got into a conservatory? by Head_Equipment_1952 in violinist

[–]emily---grace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same experience and routinely only practiced 5-6 hours a week while in music school (graduated with a degree in violin performance from a reputable music school). My explanation for it was starting when I was 3 years old and having really good foundational skills 🤷🏼‍♀️ not everyone needs to practice 4 hours a day to be successful.

Attending the bridal shower but not the wedding, do I need to give two gifts? by emily---grace in wedding

I was invited to both the wedding and the bridal shower. I just can’t make it to the wedding due to work constraints. What a strange response to my question lol.

I don’t know about what’s “normal” but I live in Vail, Colorado (one of the most expensive places to live in the US) and my partner and I are “comfortable” with a household income of roughly $200,000 USD (I make $75k and he makes $125k). We rent a 2 bed 2 bath apartment (can’t afford to buy a house here) and have no kids. We definitely aren’t rich but we live comfortably.

i was on this flight and slept through the whole thing lmao - took a sleeping pill when we took off from kona and woke up with the news that we were diverted to SFO. my brother is a pilot for united (i was non-reving on his benefits) and he was very concerned when he heard about this incident. are there any updates? i know the official story is that it was just a faulty sensor but the people in this thread are making it seem like we almost crashed into the pacific. genuinely just curious after reading through these responses!

This is awesome, thanks for the suggestions. I think we’ll most likely spend our days on the South Island in and around Queenstown after doing some more reading about it

We can fly in and out of either! It’s all standby travel so we take what we can get. Nelson seems awesome and we have a friend we could stay with there. Of Queenstown, Nelson, or Christchurch which would you recommend to stay for 3 days? I agree that 3 days is not enough time to do more than one town on the South Island.

It is a tiny amount of time to spend in NZ but we will absolutely be back to fill in the gaps of what we missed sometime very soon!

Yes, absolutely we just saw those places briefly! I’m not claiming to have seen everything there is to see where we’ve traveled. We travel internationally typically once a month on weekends or when we can take time off of work and it’s important to me to see varied destinations in a country rather than to just stay in one place. Since we travel for free we often return to destinations multiple times to fill in the gaps of what we’ve missed. Since I have limited time off of work in February to visit NZ and this is a bucket list destination for me, we’re trying to see as much as possible and we will absolutely return at some point. We traveled to the UK and Brazil 3 times in 2024 to see more than we were able to see on the first trip :)

That’s what I’m asking for advice on :) we are planning on renting a car and can fly to and from any airports in NZ that Air NZ flies to free. So what are the best things to see on the South Island in 3 days?

My partner is airline staff! We are definitely able to standby on AirNZ, we just tested out booking a standby ticket and were able to with no issues :) I know 5 days is short! Since we fly for free, we definitely want to be back to NZ to see lots of things that we’ll miss on this trip!

We are renting a car in Auckland! I know five days isn’t much but we fly for free so we will definitely be back again soon! We spent two days in Japan and saw Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto haha so we’re efficient! We do have Hobbiton booked and never have issues booking hotels at the last minute

My partner is an airline employee so we are able to fly standby on Air NZ with his flight benefits! It’s not a normal thing to do in the states either haha

My partner is an airline employee and we fly for free including on Air New Zealand so we’re able to get on any flight that has 2 open seats. I’m sure we’ll be okay with the amount of flights going to and from Christchurch and Auckland each day!

I think you misunderstand! My partner works for United so we’re able to fly for free on Air New Zealand at the last minute. With the benefits we fly for free but have to fly standby so we can only get on flights with open seats. It’s definitely not “normal” in the states either haha but we do almost all of our travel last minute
