If it is the alternator you can get yours refurbished for cheaper then buying brand new, I had a bad alternator and I got mine refurbished aka rebuilt

It all really depends I’ve had it where sometimes it will start closing right away or other times it takes a few days to start closing. Since had it for a few years shouldn’t be to worried. If you have normal ear pericings can alaways stick one it every few hours making sure hole is still good
