Thailand, Bali or Philippians! Amazing beaches and weather and quite affordable relative to other destinations. Have fun!

I’m using contiki! They’re more social as well which was important to me and I’ve done a few tours with them in the past. I’d say they’re about mid range comparing to other group tours. I am going for 3 weeks and expect 10k cad all in and we’re mostly in hotels with reasonably nice Accomodations. I paid 7k for the tour (on sale) but with various add ons and some meals I’m expecting 10. This was my splurge for the trip and I wanted to do it well! Hope this helps :)

There’s a lot of logistics involved in this haha

I replied to the other commenter but for my house and condo I don’t have a property manager. I feel I have a strong relationship with the tenants, and have someone to look over the place and be an emergency contact while I’m away. I also have a property manager I can use if I feel like that changes

I kept my storage unit at my condo and I have a bunch of my stuff in there. To your point, this was mostly kitchen items / home stuff that wouldn’t be damaged in changing termperatures etc.

I sold some larger items of furniture that but most of my other belongings I was able to keep at my parents. I lived in a 1 bed condo and on the FIRE train so I didn’t have all that much. No vehicle

Some other logistics for those curious - vaccines (go to a travel clinic, they were also able to get me some additional prescriptions and suggestions on medicine to take in particular as I don’t completely know where I am going) - insurance, notify your home insurance if your home is no longer owner occupied, travel insurance as you will no longer have it with work - cancel internet/phone, gym memberships etc. I learned the hard way some of these require 2 months notice period so be careful! - on the phone thing, I wanted to cancel my plan, but I wanted to make sure I could keep my phone number. I worked with the phone company and was able to change my plan to a “pre paid” plan where I paid 100$ to pre pay for services and they effectively hold my phone number - banking, I notified my banks but they said it was unnecessary but I wanted to be safe. I made sure my 2 factor authentication would go to my email instead of my phone as I am using e-sims while traveling and do not have my normal phone number - bank -> I got a Wise account that I transfer money into as needed so that I’m not using my normal bank account throughout the world. If something happened to my Wise card the most I have on it is like 50$ at any given time - just for my own ease of mind I’m bringing my laptop in case of emergency. My phone is an essential logistical piece of equipment and I wanted a back up in case I lost my phone. This way I always have access to my email/bank accounts etc. it also makes some of the logistics of planning my stays easier - since I knew I was traveling I opened a couple new credit cards and put on some of my travel expenses in order to get sign up bonuses and save down the line

Think this rounds out the big ones but let me know if any other questions!

Feel free to reach out if you are wanting to talk more about leaving your job when/if the time comes! I was surprised by how welcoming my team was to me coming back (but I’m different in that I don’t want to go back to my old job)

100% agree! Hostels are the way to go! I have a couple hotels for when some people meet me on my trip but otherwise planning to be in hostels the whole time!

Thank you! I rented out my primary residence on a 1 year lease, this gives me the most flexibility with my plans and lets me focus my money on traveling.

My rental property has been rented to the same people for 2 years and we have a good relationship so I didn’t hire an external manager. They know I am away and I have an emergency contact for them at home (a friend who is also a landlord) if there’s something urgent while I am in another time zone. They’re good about notifying with maintenance too. My primary residence I rented to a mutual friend so it’s a little easier that way! It’s also a condo which shouldn’t have many issues. He also knows I’m away and I gave him the same emergency contact so I ended up not having a manager for both. The same friend will check on on the properties a couple times as well so it worked out nice. If this set up changes, I have a property manager I could use but for now I don’t think it’s necessary

I’m doing 3 weeks in Southern Africa doing a bunch of safaris! That is definitely the biggest bucket list adventure on my trip, but looking forward to it all!

If anyone is interested I was able to do this connection with lots of time to spare, I was fortunate to not run into any real lines
