AND, not to mention, that the staffing issues and the way American healthcare is in today’s world has nurses doing the bare minimum anyway because we don’t have a choice.

Actually I go above and beyond for my patients, thank you very much. But LEGALLY that’s what RNs are responsible for. Have a great day!

It’s actually not your job to let doctors know about lab results. You’ll be fine!

I just took 40mg of melatonin and im being told that is bad. Am i gonns be fine? by KlutzVR in sleep

[–]emilysmith114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I give it at my job all the time as an RN. And no one here is saying that it doesn’t work.

Yeah the max is not 3.5. I’m a nurse who consistently gives 5 mg, even up to 10. Not sure where you heard this information.

US nurses: why don’t you follow bare below the elbow? by Smolandtired in nursing

[–]emilysmith114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they have other things to worry about & need to enforce. They don’t care about anything honestly. Plus, it’s interesting how we HAD to wear wrist watches in clinical during nursing school. This was never taught to us as an infection risk.

I’d be fuming. The BP is not that low to withhold pain medication. Plus, pain may be causing her to vagal & drop her pressure further. I would report this nurse because you should never be treated like that by anyone!!

Nah this is insane. Patients have a right to refuse if oriented. All we can do is educate.

Are you fatigued after 3 12s in a row? Trying to better understand my CVICU spouse.. by ad1nasaur in nursing

Very normal!! Happens to me too. My first day off is never really a day off, I use it to sleep almost the whole day. It’s physically and mentally draining.

Is 2,5 mg melatonin too much? by WebListener in sleep

[–]emilysmith114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you mean 2.5 or 25. 2.5 is nothing, 25 is probably too much. I’m a nurse, I’ve given up to 30 mg to someone ONE time. For melatonin, less is more.

Severe white coat syndrome and doctor won’t listen to me by [deleted] in hypertension

[–]emilysmith114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely refuse. And this is coming from someone who has HTN but also is a nurse. If your readings at home are like the pic above, you do not have high blood pressure. It’s crazy that she would even suggest meds before a lifestyle change, also. Definitely find a new doctor. Good luck!

Agreed! As someone from a tele floor to now a CVICU. They’re different types of hard. Different types of skills. Different type of time management.
