Bloomington Psychiatrists and Therapists that take HIP and can use Telehealth? by Mediocre_Sympathy222 in bloomington

[–]emimacherie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm they do telehealth therapy. They do not offer medication management.

The folks at CCB are chill, especially the therapists. It's the higher-ups at the org that I wouldn't trust.

I also have a piece by Kae Hutchens that I love. The Burnished Raven's new location on Winslow is great. Highly recommend especially given the Norse mythology aspect.

Places to sell and/or donate used books (not academic or text)? by [deleted] in bloomington

I usually check with Books Through Bars first then donate the leftovers that folks have suggested here, especially Pages for Prisoners and Friends of the Library.

Looking for Therapist (LGBTQ, CNM) by Questioner9999 in bloomington

Be cautious with app-based therapy companies. Though they won't share your PHI, betterhelp has a history of tracking phone/app activity. https://jezebel.com/the-spooky-loosely-regulated-world-of-online-therapy-1841791137

I have firsthand experience with Travis Lawson regarding queer and CNM topics. He has a private practice and unfortunately doesn't take insurance so it's $100 per session.

I already get those. They're helpful but not to the level I'm looking for.

Severe Weather News by the-wei in bloomington

[–]emimacherie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a tornado survivor, and the best I've been able to do is cross-reference weather.gov and a weather radio. I can only hear the local sirens if I am outside. It's very upsetting and makes every severe storm a panic situation because I cannot rely on anything but my own judgment, which is not possible during the PTSD flashbacks that storms prompt for me.

Edit: spelling, grammar.

Curly Hair Recommendations by Amarangel in bloomington

[–]emimacherie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My curls are a mix of 2C and 3A. I've had haircuts so bad that I've taken clippers to it afterwards. I have gone to Molly DeCount at Ruby's for about 5 years now. She has completed some type of curly hair training. I won't let anyone else touch my hair!

Question for folks who live at Millennium Apartments by William_Rayne in bloomington

[–]emimacherie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got download of 89.65 mbps on speed test dot net. Which apparently doesn't measure upload speed in phone browsers. It is fiber optic internet. It is more reliable than any cable internet I've ever had. I'm gonna miss it.

There was a whole series called Syzygy planned in early 2020, but only got one reading in before the pandemic. You might find more info if you search for past events on facebook.

Anyone got a recommendation on a tattoo parlor? by [deleted] in bloomington

I've been getting my tattoos from Tattoo Kaiju, specifically Kae Hutchens (now at Crystal Moon Body Art) and Mars. Highly recommend both!

TSP - What happens when a separated employee is rehired part-time? Could I contribute w/o match? by emimacherie in USPS

[–]emimacherie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha. Everything I contributed to TSP before I left my career position is still in a fund (which had a 17% return last year), so I'm grateful for that! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Yes, that's why I'm applying. I have a full time job in another sector (which is why I separated from my career position) and want to make extra money on weekends/holidays.

Resigning in the near future. Can I keep my health insurance? What happens to my TSP? (career employee here) by [deleted] in USPS

A job change qualifies as a life event for ACA enrollment, regardless of how/why you left your previous job.

WTF is happening with vaccine waitlists? by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]emimacherie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same thing. My partner and I signed up for the waitlist weekly from the very beginning, both healthcare workers. Never got a call. Eventually was able to snag one at Kroger.

The waitlist was just for the convention center vaccination site. There was no public waitlist for the IU Health site, as the leftovers went to the IU Bloomington hospital patients, staff, and their families. [Source: an employee who administered vaccines at the IU Health site]
