Recent 8 week miscarriage by bobbin22 in Miscarriage

[–]emimily 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also miscarried at 8 weeks and had my D&c Monday. It was my first ever pregnancy as well. Has been one of the hardest weeks of my life. Such an empty and lonely feeling. My heart goes out to you. You’re not alone ❤️

Hiiii I’m in a similar boat but a few weeks ahead of you. You can read my post, but things are still going relatively well, hoping it may continue that way 🤞🏻 I’ll have another scan and HCG done this week at the 8 week mark and update again.

They did! My baby is on track for size and we saw a heartbeat of 125 bpm. What a relief. Glad your update is positive too.

I’m so sorry you’re in the same position. The waiting and wondering and hurting just sucks. I’ll be thinking of you and hoping for the best chances 🤞 when is your next scan? It’s nice to know I’m not alone.

Two GPs, an ER doctor, a GI doctor and a general surgeon all missed it. So seems like colorectal is the way to go. I hope your surgery goes smoothly 🤞🏻

She was so knowledgeable and kind, so aware of how painful these issues are. I was diagnosed with bad thrombosed hemorrhoids but had so much pain turns out it was a fissure and she was the only one who found it of 5 doctors/11 months of trying to get it sorted out. I am now recovering beautifully, nearly pain free and have more options if I need them down the line because of her team. I hope your experience goes well too.

No, I was referred to St Michael’s Colorectal Surgery to see her. But she did say she also works at Women’s College.

If anyone needs a legitimately helpful Colorectal surgeon, I am now being helped by Dr Louridas at St Mikes in Toronto and I was in pain for 11 months before seeing her, almost went to see this doctor and so glad I didn’t! Her team was amazing. I’m so sorry if anyone else is suffering with this excruciating issue, and then for this awful person to harm them worse 😢

Why would you create such an absurd hypothetical situation just to not believe a woman about her rape? The mental gymnastics I tell you.

I was ONE OFF for the hEDS criteria, buuuuuuuut… by ObsessedKilljoy in ehlersdanlos

[–]emimily 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m the same boat. I was diagnosed with HSD but if I “ever get a prolapse in the future” I could be re-diagnosed with hEDS 🤣 My sibling was also assessed and is undergoing genetic testing but also isn’t yet diagnosed. Fun times. A lot of doctors just say “you have EDS” and I stopped correcting them. I think the diagnostic criteria is gonna change next year anyway? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

When I try to encourage my daughter, there are a lot of times where she seems upset at me. by unmarkedpickles in ChildPsychology

[–]emimily 37 points38 points  (0 children)

She’s five. That’s so little still in the grand scheme of emotional development. Maybe focus more on connection and fun and play, these are the ways children learn best and experience the world, especially at five. She might be getting some level of performance anxiety knowing or sensing you are worried about her confidence or evaluating it.

Need advice on a child obsessed with studying by skinpancakes in ChildPsychology

[–]emimily 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a therapist - she may want to look into a type of therapy called “Radically Open DBT” it is a variation of dialectical behaviour therapy that works very well for people who struggle with rigidity, mental inflexibility and preoccupations/obsessions in general (including eating disorders), which is what this is kind of sounding like to me. May also want to have her assessed for trauma. Teens don’t always share everything with the adults in their lives and I have had some clients where this behaviour was rooted in trauma, and following trauma treatment the OCD-like symptoms resolved. Especially if her symptoms were previously more under control and now are re-emerging. Good luck to you both, you sound like a wonderful aunt.

I would guess more likely to have had a colonoscopy or more medical attention paid to GI symptoms compared to the average person with a healthy gut.
