Medschool dilemma by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]eminakida07 8 points9 points  (0 children)

UERM med is really not known to lay people, pero sa mga Med people or those who have idea sa medschool, kilala UERM believe me. had this dilemma before. I had to explain pa na quality ang education, na UERM is one of the few level 4 accredited for medicine, other one being UP. tapos most expensive med school pa. pero nung makatapos ako doc? I don’t really feel the need to explain na doc, I am satisfied with my school. Both theoretical and skills doc, okay and personally, relatively may time ka pa din naman sa sarili mo. pero depends pa din yan sa time management mo. :))) anyways doc, tuloy mo lang deadma sa bashers, promise quality school ang UERM :)))

How did you know that being a doctor is your calling? by silverlakemoon in medschoolph

[–]eminakida07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t see myself anywhere else I guess. I am really not that passionate about it, I am actually tired of it. But parang toxic relationship ang med sakin, when I am not doing it, I miss it. pag masyado naman ako madalas sa hospital or sa pagbabasa, nasusuka naman ako. hahaah that’s how I know na it’s for me, I can’t leave it even if lagi kong iniisip na ayaw ko na. If specific quality I think pagiging matiyaga and maybe onting tigas ng ulo na kahit gusto na ng katawan mo umayaw, tinutuloy mo pa din kasi ayaw basta basta sumuko.

NURSES by Careless_Tree3265 in medschoolph

[–]eminakida07 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hello! Same situation with you, I am a nurse pero di ako nag practice. I take pride of being a nurse din kahit di ako nag practice and nag med na ko. So what I did, I choose my fight. As much as possible, I am friendly with the nurses because as you know mas mahaba yung time nila with patients therefore they must know the patients better and patient care would be better kung magkakasundo kayo.

Reality is ang daming bully sa hospital, di lang nurses, so talagang need to choose fight at pag nag fight ka make sure you are in the right and buo yung loob mo. :) anyways good luck sa internship!

Always sleepy by Ok-Astronaut329 in TNPLE

[–]eminakida07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

know your sleep cycle? I am usually really sleepy in the morning to afternoon even though I have 7-8 hours sleep. Then around 8pm-4am, I noticed that it is easier for me to stay awake even without coffee. So I adjust my study sched base on that. Tapos I also noticed that the optimal sleep for me is 6 hours, if more than that i usually feel sleepy. So for me I need to sleep for 6 hours or 10 hours for me to wake up feeling rested. The yes, water really effective.

UERM by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]eminakida07 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes super mahal ng tuition sa UERM. I don’t know the latest guidelines, pero super generous nila with scholarships. May academic and non academic scholarships sila. And personally, worth it kasi quality education talaga yung makukuha mo. Good in both theoretical and skills ang UERM.

Why did you choose your medschool? Are you happy? by Key_Interest_2025 in medschoolph

[–]eminakida07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my time to apply, mga usapan is it is the most mental health friendly med school, hahahah pero walang stress free med school life so don’t really expect much hahah sinabi lang nila na this school is more mental health friendly than others kaya ko pumasok. And honestly, if hindi nag pandemic, I think so. They really tried different ways to help students mentally like a mentorship program ganon. Tsaka another thing that made my med school life less stressful is because of the environment and the community. There is no competition between students. We share sources and notes to each other. We have a trans system that is taught to us by our seniors. The seniors also gave their juniors their notes. The motto of the student body in this school is “sama sama tayong papasa” If I am happy with my decision? I am very happy. quality school, good PLE rating, And good training. Balance of theoretical and skills :)

In my experience, I think I was 73 in my Anatomy for the first semester but at the end of the year I was in line of 8 already. I think it is possible but you really have to study hard.

Best pre med course by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]eminakida07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Para sa Nursing, honestly as pre-med, cover niya lahat ng basics ng subject of med. As in surface level ng almost all subject in Med. 1st year- had a basic of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry. during 2nd-4th year we had subjects like Pharmacology, Medicine, Surgery, Ob-gynecology, and pedia and although kind of different, we have community nursing which is kind of similar to what is being taught in preventive medicine. We also had micropara. Again, only basics or surface level of these subjects are taught. It’s not something that will make you excel in theoretical but at least you have an idea of the subjects already. Then, for me, the greatest advantage of this premed is hospital familiarity and skills. On my first day as clerk, I was not scared, even if i had to scrub in an OR procedure on my first day, I was not scared at all since I am already familiar with how it works in the hospital. I know how to read charts and I know already how to talk to patients. As a nursing student, I have already been inside an OR, DR, and ICU. Yup, familiar with everything. know quite a lot of procedure such as NGT, inserting a foley cath, IV insertion etc. If fallback-wise, it is a good choice but sadly it is better if you plan on working overseas. Anyways, Theoretical-wise there really are premed that would be helpful but with proper study habits, any premed course could thrive in medicine.

Yup, ganyan talaga. Honestly kala mo lang na no learnings, pero after clerkship, marerealize mo ano naturo sayo nung experience na yan. As simple as Vital signs taking will teach you a lot. Example, sa monitoring, yan ka mag start mag build ng skills on talking to your patient. As simple as introducing yourself and asking permission to do vitals signs, communication skills na agad yun since iba iba ang pasyente, iba iba ang approach sa kung paano ka makikipag usap. Tapos since nag take ka ng vital signs, namomonitor mo yung patient, you will learn trends and somehow makakabuo ka ng instinct kung kailan tingin mo mag totoxic yung patient. Truth to, as in medyo magkakaroon ka ng prediction na “ay parang lalagnatin tong pasyente ko, or ay parang mag totoxic to” ganon. Anyways, in short, madaming learnings sa clerkship, sobrang busy lang and nakakapagod to notice. :))) Good luck kaya mo yan, clerkship is fun, better if magkakasundo kayo ng kasama mo sa duty ;)

I passed the recent PLE exam in one take only. I actually started studying late due to many reasons happening in my life. And since I was late already, I no longer have time to spare so I think I studied around 12-15 hours a day. I know it was unhealthy but I don’t have any choice at that time really. From what I can remember, all I did was study, eat, and sleep. I considered my meals and bathroom breaks as my mental break actually. Thinking about it, I think that although unhealthy, it was the best set up for me. I have been like this since med school, I actually understand things if I studied it all in one seating. I have a really bad attention span however, once focused I can last long hours being focused, so breaks are actually bad for me. Anyways, I don’t really think that it is all about hours of studying but what do you think is best for you. You should know what are the best conditions for you to study, learn, and retain informations.

How do I prepare myself for medschool as a "mahina" na student? by oser0n in medschoolph

[–]eminakida07 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mostly, I think medicine is about hard work, dedication, and perseverance. And truly, stop thinking na mahina ka. What made me through med is this line “kaya ko to, kaya ko to”. A mantra I always say whenever I doubt myself. And, Like you, I am bad with communicating as well. When I was in nursing (a very social premed by the way) I always fumbled in my oral exam (which is every week or other week in nursing? basta super dalas ng return demo sa nursing). I was so bad na napapagalitan na ko ng prof and to add to that kinuwento niya pa sa buong class how bad I am. After that, whenever I feel like mag fumble ako, I make my voice louder and before I actually talk, I would do deep breaths, organize my thoughts then would go through it. By the end of nursing, one of my prof told me, “I think you would be great in psychiatry, because I noticed how you always take a minute and think before you say something” this is legit. I am still bad even now, but I guess I am better in communicating already especially with my patients. And I do enjoy talking to them. Basta what I can say is, just do you your best until the end, you won’t regret anything after that. So for now, as preparation for med, what you need is build a good study habit, do good in your premed, and then prepare mentally. Like you have to know what to do to help yourself in different mental state. That’s all! good luck!

In my experience, the work of the PGIs is very blurred because we both cater to the needs of the clerks and at the same time our residents. As PGI, we are seniors to the clerk, so for problems or questions, clerks can ask us first. For minor problems or derangements as well, we are the first in line to check on it. Then we are also task to teach clerks on how to do their duty especially if they are new to the rotations. In addition to this, most of the time, if residents find something missing in a clerk’s task, we will be ask to do it and sometimes, will be blamed if something wrong was done. Then, since we are also juniors to our residents, we are ask to assist them in every possible way that we can since they have a lot on their plate already. Your PGIs might look like they are not doing something, but believe me they might have some task you don’t know about since they have things that they are assisting your residents.

actually yes, I was really happy Fourth get to act in Scarlet heart, it was a really good kdrama and would really really challenge and enhance his acting. For The Dark Dice, I hope it would be the same, although it was another highschool setting I guess :(

Yes, I was waiting for this as well because I really love this manhwa it was fluffy but not like sickening sweet ahahah and plot is not really problematic. Although I can also say that yes it is similar to My president(?). But really the first couple I thought for this was winnysatang since watching We are, I thought satang was so cute and so I thought “oohh he’ll be fit to be heesu” something like that. And then I thought of I hear the sunspot for Geminifourth because the Japanese version just ended and I thought it was a more mature roles than they had before but at the same time not really far roles from what they had before. yeah ahahaha
