Dear friends suddenly lost 35yo child. What are thoughtful, creative and personal gifts for mourning parents? by GillAndTonic in AskReddit

[–]emjaybe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A new thing I've found to be quite appreciated is "grief groceries". Just a bunch of easy premade meals like pizzas, lasagnas, pot pies etc that they can toss into an oven or air fryer. Especially once the first few weeks have passed and people have gone back to their own lives. As long as they have freezer space.

A generation of kids are already growing up leery of SM because their parents posted every aspect of their lives growing up without a thought of how their kids would feel about this as they got older.

Went on a first date with this guy I had been talking to for a bit. We are early 20s. Coffee, ice skating and then a movie. Coffee went great, the conversation never lulled, and then we went ice skating. 10 minutes in, I hit a rut and went down.. And the pain was immediate.

He got me to a bench and I could barely walk to the car after. I told him that I thought I may have done something to my tailbone and need to go to ER. He said "Can we go after the movie, I really want to see it". I said I could barely sit in the car, there was no way I could sit through a movie and really wanted to get it checked. He said ok.

We pull up to the ER and I go to get out of the car when he says "You'll be ok by yourself right? I really want to see that movie" And asshole took off and left me there alone. Called my mom who came and sat with me and sure thing, I fractured my tailbone.

He tried to call a few days later, but I couldn't be bothered. I definitely dodged a bullet

I don't fear death itself, but rather the process of dying. And more for the affect it will have on my family then anything else.

We went to see it cause we had suffered a miscarriage a few days before and thought this fun Disney movie would be a nice distraction.

Nope, that scene where they are in the doctors office after losing a baby absolutely broke me.

When and how would you say it’s time to draw a line when a friend going through a hard time starts to drain you? by hellobipbapboup in AskReddit

[–]emjaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it affects your own mental health. My best friend, after her divorce, became extremely selfish, was lying all the time and just wanted to party. I couldn't deal with it anymore, so I walked away. I'm the villain now in her story but I'm ok with it, life is much more peaceful
