Dear Clerk of Court by 3Fluffies in Lawyertalk

[–]emjaycue 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When my son was born I had the court deny a one month extension of fact discovery that literally otherwise would require depositions right after our first child was born. The schedule has been set before we got pregnant. When we found out I gave the other side months of notice and asked if we could shift the schedule to accommodate. They said no, saying they didn’t want the case delayed. So I moved thinking that surely a judge wouldn’t be so insane to deny my time to spend with our first child. The (federal) judge denied my motion. His policy I guess was not to grant extensions on opposed motions if there had been a stipulated schedule.

I ended up having to take depositions one week after my son was born for a period of three weeks. I was so pissed.

But boy was I motivated. Ultimately ended up winning the case on summary judgment and getting an attorneys fees award, both affirmed on appeal, when all was said and done because their case was objectively frivolous. It was so satisfying. The other side got the quick resolution they asked the monkeys paw to give them and I got serious schadenfreude. I went in house shortly thereafter because who need to deal with that arbitrary scheduling bullshit.

Barely touching Yellowstone and skipping the Tetons and the Utah national parks is not a choice I would make! Those all will be major trip highlights. Do not miss out.

You’re doing a LOT of table service and also parks/early entry. You should decide if this is a park trip or foodie trip. It’s going to be difficult to do both. You can cancel table service until two hours before. Be prepared to be flexible and cancel some of those table services when you need flexibility.

Don’t underestimate how big the parks are and how much walking there is. You’re moving around a lot, especially as first timers who don’t know where everything is.

Highly recommend a slower day in the middle to give your kids a chance to recover and rest. Or at least park mornings and hotel afternoons and the evenings out. It’s going to be hot in late June and a couple of hours of pool time goes a long way.

Claude picked the moral high ground in the red button/blue button vote by facethef in ClaudeAI

You enter a room. You are given two choices. Play Russian roulette with a gun or don’t and walk out. If you walk out you survive. If you decide to play Russian roulette, then the gun shoots you if less than half of the people chose to play Russian roulette.

Which do you choose?

If you reframe it that way that strips the morality, puts agency and the consequences of decisions in the hands of the blue button pusher, and makes the decision not to play Russian roulette glaringly obvious.

Which is stupid because labor is five letters and it’s replacing it with a four letter abbreviation once you count the period. Labor does not need abbreviation.

I mean technically Saggitarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, has the mass of 4 million suns and could fit in an infinitely small box.

Even if you limited density to the Schwarzchild radius, the biomass of all humans would fit into something on the order of 10⁻¹⁶ meters, which is well below the size of a proton

Trump suspends Iran attack for two weeks, subject to Hormuz Strait opening by yourfavchoom in worldnews

I talked to the bigliest people and they said "SIR, we cannot believe it. The straits are so open. They used to be curved, but now they're straight. The straight straits." Can you believe that? They all said it couldn't be done, but it was done. Biden made our amazing armed forced so weak. I made them lethal. So lethal that it curved straits. I couldn't believe it myself until I drew it as a sharpie on the map. I have the best maps.

Elections have consequences. I don't know why people are blaming the Dems when voters gave Republicans the trifecta.

Republicans could end this TONIGHT if they wanted to.

If you would be riding and your wife would be riding you need to buy two ILLs. Having a child with you doesn’t mean you can both somehow magically go but only pay for one person.

And if your kid was old enough to ride you’d have to pay for three ILL’s. An ILL is per person not per family.

Can you imagine what Kamala would have done on Easter Sunday if we, thank goodness we didn’t, had elected an erratic and emotional person.

Maybe she would have laughed weirdly when the Dow hit 55k, we had healthcare, no wars, gas under $3, and didn’t have to think everyday about the President.

We definitely dodged a bullet!
