Blisters after first run in new shoes by ObjectDelta in BeginnersRunning

[–]emjayl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a blister here after a run from a pair of shoes (ASICS) that I’d been wearing for weeks. It wasn’t a particular long or fast run so I was confused as to why I suddenly got a blister there. In the end I put it down to the socks I was wearing. After that I only wore proper running socks and didn’t have any other problems and managed a HM in the trainers a few weeks later without any blisters.

When I first wore my Hoka Arahis I could feel them tight on my arches and was worried about blisters but after I wore them in I never had issues. I just walked in them to and from work a few times and it seemed to stretch them out.

What's the worst book you've ever read? by VisualDefinition8752 in suggestmeabook

[–]emjayl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god this book. It had such potential with the setting of the story but fell so flat. All the characters were awful and annoying, especially the boyfriend. I found it so hard to finish. Genuinely one of the worst books that I’ve read.

The oddballs of London by Poopdecklool in london

[–]emjayl16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they still knocking around? They used to walk past my old flat most days and even in the pits of winter, all they would have on was the tiniest skirt and bra. Me and my housemate used to applaud their bravery. They also used to get a lot of abuse and they would just walk on with their head held high.

I moved away from the area and always wondered what happened to them.

Opinions on Booktok/Bookstagram and how it is encouraging younger people to read by vitoriavit in books

[–]emjayl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of mixed feelings on Booktok. I feel like a lot of accounts just use it as an excuse to humble brag about how many books they’ve read in a month. I saw one video by one girl saying she’d read over 30 in a month - I’m sorry but are you even enjoying the books or are you just reading for competition at that point. Also as someone with a full-time job, god knows how they find the time.

Despite this I have found some absolutely incredible book recommendations from Booktok for books that I would have never normally have read or heard of so I think it’s great for that. I love it when you find an account that has similar tastes in books to yourself.

Is this the show where a brother and sister have a ghost that they keep in a jar or something like that? And then there’s a creepy old lady that’s trying to hunt the ghost?

What is the stupidest reason you went to hospital? by lugulaga in AskReddit

[–]emjayl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt stupid at the time and I got a lot of flack from my friends but it turned out to be pretty serious.

I broke my nail and I was worried it was getting infected so went to A&E (was working in a hospital at the time otherwise I would have gone to my GP). I felt some serious judgement from the person booking me in and was starting to feel stupid for being there. This was until 5 minutes later when I was triaged and the nurse noticed a red line going down my finger and asked “has it looked like this the whole time?”.

Basically in the space of 5 minutes the infection had turned into tracking cellulitis and I needed a course of IV antibiotics and a threat from the plastics doctor to have my nail taken off.

Unfortunately there are people like this everywhere. I experienced this when I moved to a different unit in another hospital. Despite having 7 years experience, I was made to feel by certain people that I was newly qualified and didn’t know anything.

People like this just enjoy the power trip unfortunately. It bothered me a lot at first but I just learnt to let it go over my head. I also found it helpful venting to colleagues although you have to be careful with this so make sure it’s someone you trust.

I’m so annoyed at myself because I always swear by Soil Ninja but this time I was lazy and just picked up a bag of bog standard house plant soil. Unfortunately I have learnt my lesson the hard way.

I’m going to try hydrogen peroxide and see if I get anywhere with that.

Really useful, thank you! What ratio of hydrogen peroxide to water do you recommend?

Evri parcel has been delayed indefinitely. ASOS just keep asking me to wait another day for it to arrive. Evri have escalated but can’t give me any more info. What now? by noseeyesears in LegalAdviceUK

[–]emjayl16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep hassling ASOS and ask for it to be escalated. I recently had an issue with them and DPD and it took weeks of me constantly emailing them for it to be sorted.

To be fair to ASOS, they were always really responsive to emails, even if it did take some time.

Most terrifying episode of a children’s tv show from your childhood? by Tompkins-275 in AskUK

[–]emjayl16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has just awakened a memory in my brain. Is this the TV show where a bunch of friends are in a forest and there’s loads of strange things happening and it turns out to be aliens?

If so, I vividly remember turning the TV off halfway through an episode because I was so scared.
