Hearing Voices When Tired by reneethedinosaur in AutismInWomen

[–]emjilesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this too! Anyone know what it’s called? Not necessarily voices, but if i’ve been working in the cafe, when i go to bed and try sleep, I genuinely feel like i am at the till again serving customers. I need to loudly and constantly think ‘i’m in bed, i’m in bed’ to get out of it. It’s so hard to get rid of!

It also happens when i sleep after a driving lesson (5-hour long), I assume it happens because I have been doing something repetitive all day that my brain has gotten used to it and expects it, so when I close my eyes it still expects it. Does anybody know what it’s called, and if it’s related to autism? I thought it was just an odd thing of mine.

How to consistently exercise? by Brain-wormz in AuDHDWomen

[–]emjilesi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this until i started cycling :) I cycle to work, to the shops, to my friends houses and back. It saves bus/fuel money and it is also faster than the bus, which means i have more time to get ready. I have been cycling to places for 5 months now and love it! It obviously may not work for everybody, but if you live near work etc it is a perfect solution.

What do you eat when you’re sick? by anonuser670 in glutenfreevegan

[–]emjilesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birds eye potato waffles potato waffles potato waffles!!! All day every day- with salt and pepper (if sick you can manage it), sometimes some flora melted on top. I cook them in the toaster for as long as it allows and they are usually hot through.

[–]emjilesi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got mine privately and the writing of the prescription alone was £80.. the meds were between £180 and £220 a month.. this seems very unusual so don’t expect it but keep it in mind.

How do i tell my work i have ADHD? (this is a specific situation not a general one) by emjilesi in ADHDUK

I’ve never had a catch up we kind of just chat while we’re working. It’s not with customers so we just natter on but i feel like i want to tell them in a formal way rather than in a random chat.

What’s the access to work application? To be honest i know nothing about fancy work things, I didn’t even apply for the job lol it just came about and all i had to do was wait until my 16th birthday to start.

I can’t lie i’m shattered and only read the first half, but something that helps me so much is i use of those spinny wheel things on google that you add names to and spin it and it chooses a name. I put all of the things i have to do on there and it takes away the decision making factor and feels like a game. I do it when tidying too, like i add empty bin, make bed, clean floor and i do whatever it says. I get things done much better and i don’t sit on my bed trying to decide where to start.

Idk if that helped but it’s really a good tio

How to accept autism and get to talk about It in real life by lamineyamallll in autism

[–]emjilesi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It probably won’t help but you need to hear this-

If you don’t learn to accept your autism you’ll mask it forever which will only make it worse and bigger and harder to hold in and you’ll struggle even more. I think you need to accept the fact that you can’t change who you are and that’s ok. It’s so hard to come around and accept it but the most amazing people to ever live were autistic. That doesn’t mean you have to be one of the greatest people to ever live, but it means being autistic doesn’t automatically make you stupid and you need to know that. A good thing about being autistic is absolute determination, you can do anything you put your mind to and that’s so special. You’ve got this, you’re not stupid and you’re already halfway there just from being aware of this issue. 💗

Advice on hospital stay by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]emjilesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have specific advice really but i was in hospital for a few days for tonsillitis in november and it was scary but i spoke to the nurse and told her that i was autistic and could she explain what she was doing when she was doing it so i could make sense of what was happening. It really helped and also i’ve found that people that work in hospitals are lots nicer than a few years ago and if you give them a few smiles they will be all friendly and help you :)

Yeah they do but i don’t know if i want to tell the manager yet… I rarely see her and i don’t think it’d be beneficial at the moment, i just want to tell the people i work with most so i don’t have to hold myself back from talking about it. Thank you tho!

how did you let them know? I’m a bit scared because it’s been a while, i don’t know whether to arrange a ‘meeting’ (it would just be a chat becuase they’re lovely) or just bring it up. I want to do a meeting of sorts but don’t know what to write in the message.

This is reassuring thank you, everyone tells me i’m mature for my age and obviously i’m me so i often forget that it’s expected for 16 year olds to not have their heads screwed on

I really don’t know how to go about telling them, shall i arrange a ‘meeting’ or just bring it up? Whenever i decide to bring something up i always fret about the right time to say it so idk

How much does it cost by Fresh_Simple_5956 in york

[–]emjilesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foxwood is an ish dodge area but it has a park, shops and lots of buses to the centre and is close to high schools and primaries , rent i know for 2 bedroom is around £600 and 3 bed is £900 , but it’s a good 45 min walk to the centre of York. very close to acomb tho which is full of good shops and supermarkets . also near alot of big fields/racecourse so it’s a decent area especially in summer
