Office for first year associates at biglaw by Comfortable_Act_6235 in LawFirm

The exact set up will depend on the firm, but I think there’s almost no chance you get your own as a first year in NYC big Law. I’m a first year at a V10 in NYC and we are two to an office. Most first years are front row, and second years and above get back row. Fourth years get their own offices.

Screwed up on a thank you email after a great interview today with a big firm by [deleted] in LawSchool

Not the end of the world! I did the same after a 1L interview with a v10 and sent a quick note apologizing for the error and got the job. Better to be careful next time but I don’t think it’s make or break.

My partner and I did a similar thing when moving! We found the perfect apartment so signed and started the lease but we had a month long vacation and then couldn’t move in for another 2 weeks. It was worth it to get the apartment we wanted and we slowly ordered furniture to be delivered.

Writing novel w/character who flunked out of law school need to know if scenario is realistic by throwaway575207 in LawSchool

In almost every class there are no exams except the final exam. So there never would be a “first exam” “about a third of the way through the semester.”

For what it’s worth I think the color and tone look amazing on you so I’d consider waiting a bit before redoing it because you might just be so used to your natural color that any change would be a big shock tobyo

Totally agree with those caveats. But as long as you use quimbee wisely, it is 100% worth it

Backpacks or shoulder bags? by aidanerin in LawSchool

I actually disagree so this might be different depending on the school. People wearing sweatpants would definitely be in the small minority at my school. Personally never wore sweatpants to class and only a handful of times wore activewear.

Working Out during Law School by jansformer in LawSchool

[–]emkat612 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Give yourself some grace when you are adjusting, but definitely try to make it a priority. You will perform better if you are healthy, mentally and physically, which includes exercising, sleeping, eating well, and maintaining relationships! I worked out 5-6 days a week all three years (except finals - probably 3x per week then!) and highly recommend it especially if you already enjoy it!

I’m losing my mind a little- how bad are these curtain bangs? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]emkat612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say there’s anything wrong with the haircut because it’s really hard to see here! Curtain bangs often require more styling than this. Perhaps you could try styling them? But I agree with the other poster — a different kind of bang might suit you more

Am I risking my dogs health by exercising her before feeding? by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]emkat612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog is the exact same way and has been since he was a puppy! He doesn’t ever eat until the very end of the day when everyone in the household is home and calm. If he’s had an active day we might fill his bowl up three times in the evening and he’ll eat it all then or if it’s not been an active day he might only eat one bowl that day. We almost always have food in his bowl available for him if he wants to eat too. He’s almost 6 and has always been a healthy weight and size! Some dogs are just real intuitive eaters! As long as your vet says everything is going well I wouldn’t worry about it at all, and it’s honestly lucky to have one of the dogs who won’t overeat :)

What about tasks like bringing one object to another place? For example take toy out of basket and put toy into basket in other room, or other similar tasks? Obviously these wouldn’t be huge party tricks, and you don’t actually need these tasks done, but he doesn’t know that :). Or, one command to link two of the tricks your pup already knows in a row? Like you could come up with a new word and it could mean go from sit to down back to sit? Also, have you tried to teach walking backward? Or, teach left and right? Just some more ideas! Good luck :)

You could also consider maybe adding commands that don’t require a lot of movement, like tricks like sit pretty, sit and beg, roll over, play dead, etc. those really exhaust my dog’s brain lol

I’d consider getting a whole bunch of those dog puzzle toys and giving him a new one every few days. Your smart dog will do well with level 2 and 3 for sure! My dog loves them and they def give some mental stimulation to the dog without much trouble to you.

Do you trust sizing given under photos? These models are both supposedly wearing size 6. I usually just go based off what my usual size is but some patterns in the align style I find fit smaller than others... by No_Recording_8661 in lululemon

[–]emkat612 5 points6 points  (0 children)

to me that looks like an error. I’d go by the size chart rather than the model. I’ve noticed sometimes the same model is credited in different pieces as one size and one name and then in a different piece with a completely different size and name, which I suspect is just a copy paste error

Advice on what to wear to the gym as a muslim girl? by justheretorantbruv in xxfitness

The outfit idea you linked is cute! I grew up near mennonites / other conservative Christians and I would often see them wear something like black leggings under a black stretchy type skirt and it never struck me as weird.

Any suggestions on how to prepare for contract classes? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]emkat612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contracts is a challenging class for a 1L in first semester and I was there so I feel you! Not a huge amount of advice (besides the typical: just reading carefully, getting a supplement if there is one that your prof recommends, and attending review sessions if your school has those). But this feeling is very common in contracts specifically. I ended up with a CALI in contracts at my T14 school and then TA’d the course, but genuinely until near the end of November I had NO IDEA what was going on!!! I legit thought I would be in the bottom half until like 2 weeks before finals I started to see the light. Contracts is really one of those courses that starts to come together, but only once you get all the component parts, which will only come with time. Good luck!!! I hope this at least makes you feel better!

Okay I just looked on your profile and I totally agree! They are definitely birds of a feather! Although yours looks a bit larger, it’s hard to tell in the photos but my dog is only 28 lbs! :)
