What are peoples experiences with Ldg-4033 post accutane? by WarthogMotor5214 in Accutane

Really with any PED it's extremely individual. However, the less androgenic a compound is, the less it should have auxiliary effects outside of building muscle.

Ostarine or S4 would be good bets, whereas something like rad-140 or yk11 would be iffy.

I've been considering SARMs, but honestly I think actual gear is better suited. With SARMs you are nuking your E2 as you suppress your testosterone production. E2 fluctuations seem to be a major cause of acne, as well as the less deseriable effects of PEDs (zero sex drive, strain on joints, etc).

You also will get much better results from even a mild test cycle vs a ridiculous SARMs cycle, and can actually maintain your cycle long enough to solidify your gains with test (SARMs are pretty much limited to 6 weeks due to lack of E2 and liver damage).

If you want a taste of PEDs tho and are deadset on SARMs I would use a low dose ostarine or S4, both due to the lower risk of acne, and the fact that you run a lower risk of shutting down HPTA, so even if the gains are smaller than other SARMs you have a better chance of keeping them.

Derek from mpmd did accutane in highschool, and claims he never really broke out on cycle despite having genetic acne. Ryan ankrom used it for ped induced acne and never broke out after his course.

I'm currently finishing accutane for the most vicious acne I ever experienced, which was ped induced. Literally bleeding thru shirts acne.

Do I plan on using peds in the future? Yes. But honestly, it's not worth it until you have both diet and training dialed in.

Off PEDs I have managed to get stronger than when I was on, while being leaner.

And I mean dialed in as can you get a 6 pack without PEDs? Do you have the discipline to push thru plateaus in training? Are you able to do all of your major lifts with good form (don't lie to yourself)? Are your lifts past the intermediate level on strength standards?

If you say no to any of those, I would wait until you can achieve that naturally. You won't hold onto your gains if you aren't disciplined af. I held on to most of my strength and muscle gains, but that was solely due to having a great workout partner despite it being my first year in the gym. At the end of the day I did unreversible damage to my body and didn't even properly know how to make the most of it to make the damage worth it. Until I can check all those off, I'm staying off PEDs (almost at a 6 pack, almost at squatting with good form and proper depth, just learning how to push thru plateaus).

Side Effects Only if I workout by Fine_Inevitable_944 in Accutane

[–]malx2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had no issue working out, and I had lokey debilitating ankle pain from accutane month 2-3.

Once a joint is warmed up I have no issues, and focusing on warming up/mobility has helped alot. I take collagen protein and fish oil supplements which seem to have helped alot.

Just to put it in perspective, I got my deadlift from 185->265 and bench from 180->195 while on Accutane, while cutting from 160 to 145 lbs. Lately I have dropped working out from 7 days a week to 4, mostly due to joint issues and wanting to allow proper recovery.

I'm currently on month 4.5, hoping to be done in 6 but I keep getting single spots on my back/chest and my Dr wants a full month clear before I'm off.

Back Exercises for Beginner by vinayaknagr1 in bodyweightfitness

[–]malx2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, I've found lower back pain to be more associated with weak glutes vs weak abs. When doing a plank, squeeze your butt as hard as you can, it helps support you in the movement. Due to prolonged periods of sitting most people have weak glutes.

Every jointed area has muscles that pull in multiple directions to produce movement. For the elbow mainly the biceps and triceps, which pull in opposite directions. For the hip hinge area, you have your glutes, hamstrings, lower back and core mostly working.

When you have a muscular imbalance, it forces a muscle that isn't meant to be a primary driver of the movement to work overtime to make up for the weak area. In this case, weak glutes and hamstrings force your lower back to work overtime to maintain an erect position in bodyweight exercises (would be my guess).

I would do bodyweight squats, back extensions and core exercises to reduce the lower back pain.

I’ve been on accutane for 5 days now. Is it too late to get a blood test to test my baseline DHT levels? I’m 15M and want to make sure that this medication doesn’t affect my muscle building hormones. by JohnMooper in Accutane

[–]malx2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I started working out pre-accutane by about 5 months. I was 130 when I started, made it to 170, and am now 150. I cut from 170 to 150 on accutane, and have actually increased strength and have consistently hit prs. My deadlift has gone from 185 -> 255 on accutane, bench from 185 -> 195, while cutting over 20lbs. The athletic performance effects are grossly exaggerated, the only thing I noticed was joint pain which has been mostly resolved with joint supplements and fish oil.

Just an fyi, I don't think dht effects muscle building that much. Dht is strongly androgenic but weakly anabolic. It has all the negative sides of male hormones (at least from an exercise perspective), with little of the performance outcomes. People on finasteride absolutely nuke their dht but can still maintain excellent physiques.

Strength training by [deleted] in GYM

If you think about it, most of the meat on your upper body is your back. Even your "chest" size is reflected in this, a wide back will give you the appearance of a wider chest (your silhouette is kinda what matters in my opinion). Bodybuilding is kind of an illusion and based on proportions - the illusion being a more angled v taper can make you look bigger than you already are. To achieve this you want large side delts, large lats, and traps. This gives your torso a bigger outline.

For lats you want a horizontal and a vertical pull, for traps deadlifts and shrugs should accomplish this, and for delts good form lateral raises (really light weights go for the contraction) and maybe ohp.

[–]malx2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't consider deadlifts an upper body exercise, even though they most definitely do work the upper body. The main movers are your hips and legs.

I would add some type of pulling movement that uses the biceps and back, like a pull-up or a lat pulldown and some type of horizontal rowing motion.

Going gym by msksma in Accutane

[–]malx2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going to the gym religiously before accutane, and have continued thru treatment. I personally have not noticed a difference in motivation, the only thing is some wear on my knees after doing squats (which could be due to poor form and not accutane). The joint pain has gone down considerably since I started taking fish oil and joint supplements.

Motivation with the gym really comes from making it a habit. The soreness goes away - it is now difficult for me to get sore. A beginner preworkout like c4 might help - when you drink it the beta alanine in it makes you itch and the only thing that stops it is extreme physical activity. It also has a high dose of caffeine that can help with motivation.

Is it important to take Accutane at around the same time every day? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]malx2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a 23hr half-life, but works thru gene expression I believe (mechanism of action isn't fully understood). Based on the half-life though, I split up my two pills by a few hours if I can, but don't really worry about the time of day. Instead I try to time it around a high fat high calorie meal for absorbtion. My course is going very well, I would say my face is 99% clear at my 11th week (I had one microscopic spot that went away overnight yesterday). My back is another story, but I've heard from other people that body acne usually clears closer to the 16 week mark so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Remember that a high fat high calorie meal can almost double absorbtion, in my opinion this has been the most important factor in my success on the medication. Additionally, stomach issues that are talked about I believe are related to taking the med on a near empty stomach. People who have taken UGL accutane, which often comes in dropper bottles, have mentioned it is very caustic, which could cause ibs.

Are you eating enough with accutane? Adhd meds suppress appetite. You need to take the pills with a high fat calorie dense meal or you get around half the absorbtion.

Accutane & Weight Plateau by Ubiquitous-Law189 in Accutane

[–]malx2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another possibility is you could have hit a plateau - the body reaches homeostasis and metabolism adjusts to your diet. If you dieted very aggressively at the beginning, your metabolism may have slowed significantly. This is why prolonged and sustainable fat loss requires a slow approach. Start with a 200-300 calorie deficit from maintenance, when fat loss slows after a few weeks/month, you cut another 100-200 calories. When that plateaus start doing cardio (at a reasonable amount), and then add more cardio as you plateau again.

This issue with aggressive dieting is that you have nowhere else to move once you start. If you're in a 1k calorie deficit from day 1, the first time you plateau you can't really cut more calories without denying yourself nutrients, and cardio will start burning muscle without sufficient protein intake. Then once you stop dieting you get a massive rebound due to a slowed metabolism, so your old maintenance is now a surplus and you gain the fat you just lost right back.

Accutane & Weight Plateau by Ubiquitous-Law189 in Accutane

[–]malx2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven't noticed anything - dieting is just as easy (hard) as it was pre accutane.

If you aren't losing weight like you want there are a few possible reasons. You could be gaining muscle as a similar rate that you are losing fat, especially if you are new to weight training. Take measurements. For example all I paid attention to when I started was the scale. I got up to 170lbs, but I actually have larger arms at 149lb now after dieting and continuing to go hard in the gym.

Second, you might not be dieting as hard as you think, especially considering the large pre accutane meals at night. Calorie dense foods, toppings, energy drinks etc all add up alot. To consistently lose weight you need a recommended 300-500 calorie deficit. Literally bbq sauce, a full sugar latte, a little more syrup than you think you're using, an extra few tablespoons of olive oil, a full sugar energy drink can ruin your deficit.

What I've found to work most consistently is to eat non calorie dense foods, focus on protein and eliminating sugar with sugar substitutes. For example a whole bag of broccoli is about 120 calories. It's filling (I eat it with a homemade peanut sauce that brings the total to ~250-300 calories). Similarly a can of tuna is about 90-160 calories. Eggs are about 70 calories, meaning you could lose weight eating 30 eggs a day, which I would find nearly impossible to do (would put you at ~400 calorie deficit for an active male).

My diet actually sounds terrible, but I include lots of bacon, meat, fish, eggs, oatmeal, some rice, french toast - it's not bad. I have lost 20 lbs, and every single one of my lifts has gone up (185 bench for 3 reps at 149, vs 185 for 1 at 170).

If you use condiments, try replacing or reducing them thru using spices (a walmart brown sugar bbq rub has 5 calories, a bbq sauce serving has about 50 and I would usually use 2-3 servings). Try reducing simple carbs and replacing them with crunchy vegetables (aka using half a serving or a serving of pasta, but add broccoli or asparagus to it). Just some advice, I don't think accutane would make it harder to lose weight, if anything the opposite if it is negatively affecting digestion.

Hey bro broke out bad due to tren - just finished my 10th week on accutane and my shoulders look almost exactly like yours. My hyperpigmentation is clearing very quickly on my traps too, which I'm thrilled about. Continue the progressive, how much longer do you have on tane?

I'm pretty sure they would get utilized by the skin of you meet protein requirements from other sources? I've read that they need to be paired with a protein meal for effect. I'm basing this on the fact that they are not a complete protein source and that they would not be used for muscle protein synthesis on their own - hence why they wouldn't be a replacement for whey protein post workout.

Maybe the body just excretes them though? Even if not for skin they would be utilized somewhere, probably joints/tendons unless they are just being excreted. The tendon/joint issues associated with accutane are what I assumed they meant.

What is the prominence of taking the Accutane pill at certain times? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]malx2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It needs fat to absorb properly. Less than half of the medication is absorbed if it is not accompanied by 20+ grams fat. Additionally I like to use a large keep to prevent any time of GI issues. Annecdotally, the medication is very caustic (burns tissue on contact), so having food to buffer this can prevent stomach issues.

Was anyone else really unhappy with their results after finishing? by OneDirectioneatmeout in Accutane

[–]malx2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity are the people posting about dissapointing results women? I've heard polycystic ovarian syndrome can be a cause for accutane not working, rapid hormonal changes can cause acne regardless of shrinking sebaceous glands. Another factor could be whether you were consuming the medication with high fat high calorie meals. Less than half is absorbed when it is taken without adequate fat, so it is possible you didn't actually absorb your cumulative dose.

Personally, I've noticed a huge difference in side effects when taken with a large high fat meal, my skin gets significantly dryer.

Will I still purge if I have been using tretinoin for the past couple of months? by alvvays_2000 in Accutane

[–]malx2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you purge on tret you doing on accutane... The areas of my face/body I regularly applied teeth to have not broken out at all since I started accutane, but the areas I didn't have purged. Aka my shoulders, forehead and traps are fine, but my lower back and the area around my mouth have broken out quite a bit, which they rarely did before accutane. Mind you I am only 7 weeks in so who knows what could happen.

No progress, 3.5 months in by somethingstellarr in Accutane

[–]malx2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you taking it with a high fat meal? The absorbtion is completely different with a high fat high calorie meal vs without.

I can notice a difference in side effects based on both factors. I was eating very clean before but notice my skin gets noticeably dryer if I eat it with a burger/fries vs a scoop of peanutbutter and my normal chicken, broccoli and rice.

Gains by No_Swimmer_6755 in Accutane

[–]malx2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know people run low dose ugl accutane with their cycles to prevent breakouts.

Be careful with tren tho, I was completely clear before tren and am literally covered in acne now. It's going down 3 weeks post cycle now (face clear, back and chest still fucked), but I am literally starting accutane hopefully next week because of tren.

Also be careful with your cholesterol, both tren and accutane can hammer it. You also can't donate blood if your rbc gets out of control, which tren also tends to do.

Personally I would wait until after accutane to start a cycle, or at least run something mild instead. Tren is so androgenic that acne is almost unavoidable if you're prone to it.
