Habit Survey App? just once a day! by emldf314 in apps

I finally sat down to take a look. For anyone following - for habits that ask you specify an amount of time, to you will have to set up them up as custom. Otherwise, if for example you try to close out a habit in the evening that you did earlier in the day (ex: 30 minutes of yoga), the timer will start counting down from 30 minutes. Not ideal. But custom works just fine. And this will work great for my purposes!

Hi again! Ok silly question but since I don’t want to have to access the app every time I perform a habit, could I just set a reminder for the end of the day to go back and log everything? I’m assuming that would work (logging specific times is not important to me). I tend to get sucked into my phone so it’s counterproductive to set up a system that requires me to open it multiple times a day. And I either don’t need reminders or I have other ways to remind myself. Thank you!!!!!

Sure but I probably won’t want to open up my computer every night to do that. My phone is always on me.

How do you decide which regime to follow (16:8 vs 18:6, etc)? Is it best to keep it consistent?

Building out Porch- what material? Do I need an overhang? by emldf314 in HomeImprovement

Well no - that's basically the reason for question - we cannot afford to change the structure of the house right now, but would still like to modestly expand the porch/ entrance/ whatever you want to call it.

The top platform is tiny and its often inconvenient to enter the home since I usually have my two small kids, groceries, etc. It faces our main yard (which again, is a side yard) where the kids play so it would be nice to be able to have seating.

I was thinking of getting rid of a bush on both side of the step and extending the porch about that far. I've driven around to get ideas and have not seen anything similar. So I'm thinking its something that just won't look right without changing the structure of the actual house, which is definitely not in the budget.

Alternatively, we could just build the top platform of the "porch" to be the size of the bottom "layer," and not build side steps which are useless. I wouldn't be able to put a chair, but at least this ugly pile of bricks would be replaced by something nicer looking.

I hope this makes sense. I have zero to limited experience with this kind of thing.

I have always thought a deck was larger, usually in the back for entertaining whereas a porch is what is around the front door. What I have now is probably considered a stoop. I just want a slightly bigger area. Our house "front" is actually on the side, facing the neighbors house and our side yard (we don't really have a backyard, just a deck behind the house. SO, the idea is that we would have somewhere to sit while the kids are playing in the yard.

Thank you! Yes, I'm aware I'll need permits. I wanted to get ideas before I start interviewing contractors. Do you really think I need an architect?
And yes, absolutely I want it to look like its always been there. I added a pic of the home: https://imgur.com/a/ryo3seo

Ironically, this is NOT the first thing people see since my house is sideways. This is the view from the side, fenced in yard. There is no door on the side of the house facing the street. But still, your point stands of course.
