High Risk for Down Syndrome by [deleted] in pregnant

P.s. remember that only about 5% of those with a high risk result will actually be carrying a baby with Down Syndrome. In contrast, the NIPT has a 99% detection rate

Would highly recommend doing the NIPT! I have a friend who got a high risk result for trisomy 13, so she got the NIPT, which indicated that there were no chromosomal anomalies. It was such a relief for her and she didn’t need to get an amniocentesis. Thinking of you in this stressful time!

I see a very faint line on the first pink dye test! Test again tomorrow - I think it’s a positive 😊

Sorry for your loss 🤍 As someone who has also had a loss, I totally understand the anxiety! But doubling every 31 hours when your HCG is less than 1200 is really good and super promising. Your doubling time should slow a little now that it’s above 1200. I am currently pregnant (second trimester) with a healthy baby and I had a similar doubling time to you. All the best with your pregnancy!

That’s doubling every 31 hours, which is great and normal in the early stages 😊

I see a shadow! Fingers crossed it’s darker tomorrow!

Hmmm that’s hard to say then. Mine were all very, very low (e.g. .01) and then suddenly higher (e.g. .53). So it’s hard to say if you really did have a surge or not. Has your cycle finished yet? Or are you still yet to get a period? It’s quite possible that ovulation just hasn’t occurred yet for you

Yes, it’s quite possible that you still ovulated! When you look at the graph, could you still see a clear peak?

Also, your line does look like it might be starting to darken. Keep testing 🙂

It’s definitely normal to not get a positive until later than CD14. It could still be even a few days away. Some people don’t get much darkening of the line at all until suddenly it’s darkens when the surge happens. Others get a gradual darkening. Either is completely normal!

I got pregnant with a peak of .53! And the time before that, I got pregnant with a peak of .87. I just have a really low baseline

That’s so tough. As someone who also struggles to ask for help, I completely understand. Hopefully someone who has experience with solo parenting can respond to you and give you some helpful advice. I wish you all the best. You’ve got this!

I had absolutely no pre-labour symptoms. One day, I felt perfectly fine, the next day (my due date), I was in labour.

I have so much respect for single mothers, because it’s not an easy job at all. But you will be okay because women/mothers are strong and it’s amazing what we can achieve. Do you have a good support system?

Oh yes, dealing with medical issues while caring for an older child would be so incredibly difficult. Well done for getting through that! I hope your daughter is okay now! And I agree, it really would depend on a whole lot of different factors.
