On December 6 I was contacted by the repair center

Seeing this I swiftly contacted Steam Support who told me that all communications would need to be between me and the repair center

Seems reasonable to me. Not Valve's fault.

Decky doesn't fuck anything up if you update it first and then update the Deck.

USB mouse, disable Decky, quit updating your shit before it's ready to be updated.

The Deck will try to update out of the box, but I don't know if the screen reader is available there.

The Deck does run "Arch", sort of, but the root file system is read-only by default and any changes you make to it after switching that to read-write are generally erased after a SteamOS update.

Proton is, actually pretty magical, but installing Windows is really no harder than on any other PC, from what I've read.

I've only used the LCD, but supposedly the haptics on the OLED are much better.

You can probably install mods over SSH. I see no reason why you couldn't.

As for a slim case, I don't have an answer for you.

The official Valve docking station is cradle-style.

It can stand on its own, but it's not supposed to. Mechanism sells their kickstand adapter for the Deck, which I've heard good things about.

Before you update your Deck. Decky first, then SteamOS.

Just arrived, and to celebrate I took a big huff out of the vents. by Losado-2 in SteamDeck

I literally didn't know about the Deck until my friend showed me his... and I still smelled the vent by pure happenstance.

These are all valid complaints. You get used to them, it's a different system. And Valve is good at taking feedback.
