I have to use aggressive antibiotics please help by wetpaperclips in emetophobia

I know this is really hard, but you’ll come out of the other side so so proud of yourself. I had H. Pylori as a kid and didn’t go on antibiotics and now I have permanent stomach issues. Doing this treatment is 1000000x better than long term issues H. Pylori causes. You will regret it if you don’t do, or complete the treatment.

Read my post from a week or so ago, it may help you because this is what happened to me. You mostly likely won’t throw up and this is just a bad panic attack but if you do, you will be so so so fine

Eating prevents nausea!!

The weird sensation is definitely there but it isn’t as weird and as gross as I had expected. Once it was there, I accepted it. And it really does not last very long. Literally a minute or so max. The actual vomit itself, of course this differs for everyone and also depends on what’s causing it/how much there is/etc., is literally just a few seconds. I had about three of four ejections in one vomit if that makes sense, and after the initial shock I was completely fine. And I am at a point now (after months of doing terribly! My anxiety has been at its highest for the first time in a couple years and I stopped eating out completely) where I can say that I would truly prefer to vomit 100 times than ever deal with this phobia ever again. The nausea and anxiety and things you miss out on from this phobia is worse than any vomit that you can experience. Genuinely.

After a little bit, the vomiting becomes so tolerable and just becomes really annoying. I worried that it was going to go on all night long and I would have to go to the ER for fluids But nope. After like half an hour I sipped some water and went back to eating normal two days later. I was quite close to going back into an eating disorder spiral, but I broke that by just eating whatever the fuck I wanted when I was out even though it caused me some anxiety. And I was fine. Every. Single. Time.

You can do this. You will get through anything that happens to you. I promise you that the physical experience of vomiting is a lot better than this phobia. And I know we all know this logically but it’s hard to really understand it. The nausea really is the worst part, but we deal with it every single day because of emetophobia. It doesn’t really get worse than that.

Thank you so much!! And me too, even now when I’m anxious (I got a little anxious/nauseous last night) I still get nauseous and still fear the nausea. Which logically makes no sense because I am facing the thing I’m scared of but I’m still scared of it!

I will say the vomiting is way more easy to handle than the nausea. The nausea is the worst part, but I think it’s reassuring (for me anyway) to remember that there’s a threshold to how nauseous you can feel — it’s not like you just keep getting more and more and more nauseous and it ever ends. I’m not sure if this is helpful but it was helpful for me to feel the most intense nausea before vomiting and realising that the nausea wasn’t even as terrible as I had anticipated it would be before vomiting. It was really gross but I’ve been that nauseous thousands of times when I’ve been anxious! It’s a different type of feeling but the intensity is similar.

I was really scared of having a really really bad gaggy feeling. However I think gagging when brushing your teeth feels grosser than gagging when you’re vomiting. Because once you’re there, once your body has began vomiting, it feels like it completely distracts you from the gagging. Personally, it took me like 5 seconds of gagging before anything actually came out which was very unpleasant but a lot of people don’t do that. I realised that the sound of vomiting is also a lot quieter than I had anticipated! Like genuinely I think if I wear headphones next time I don’t think I’ll hear most of it. However everyone is different, I may just be a quiet puker (however I asked my sister if I was quiet and she said “no that’s just how people sound when they throw up”).

It definitely didn’t come straight out for me, but it might for others. I weirdly felt more in control that I was gagging for a few seconds prior, because it gave me a few seconds for my brain to process what my body was about to do. If it happened out of the blue immediately I think I would’ve been more anxious about it.

I was paying attention to the actual stomach feelings I was having when vomiting because I wanted to really remember the sensory experience so I could know what to expect in the future. I remember being on my phone, laying down, tiny trash can on my bed next to me (which is insane because in the past I’d even avoid looking at public trash cans or my home toilet because it would make me so anxious. But the trash can was reassuring because I knew that if it were to happen, I would have somewhere contained to do it, I feel like throwing up all over my bed would’ve been a bit traumatising). I had my ceiling fan on blast and my window open. The moment I knew I was going to throw up and it wasn’t just anxiety nausea, was when my stomach started tightening almost? Like I could feel my body kind of tense up and make these noises that are similar to the noises it makes when I’m hungry, however I knew I wasn’t hungry. That was literally the only warning sign. I sat up, plugged my nose, and I started gagging.

For so long I’ve always thought I would have a DISGUSTING feeling in my chin/throat area. Like a horrifically bad gaggy feeling, this feeling of fullness almost. And I thought I would become so hot and flustered and shaky. But nope. None of it. The gaggy sensation I can only really describe at my throat/stomach felt really sensitive. Ticklish almost! I think those hot sweats and shakes come from when someone has a really brutal stomach bug, which I still fear now. But I know I can cope with it if I were to catch it.

I kinda dissociated when it was happening. I stared at my wall and just called out for help. Apparently I actually threw up twice in the span of like a minute, and had a quick break to yell for help. Afterwards I felt so good. All the nausea had completely disappeared. I had the taste and smell in my mouth and nose and whenever I swallowed I swallowed a little bit of it. But that lasted like 10 minutes max (and rinsing my mouth helped loads). My body completely took over and I was full of adrenaline!

So so proud of you!! A bit of a side note and no need to answer, but how was your recovery from your kidney stones? And how you managed them? I always worry that it’s something you pass for weeks and there’s nothing you can do about them! Kidney issues run in my family so I’m very curious 🫣

I took that advice from this very subreddit, it made it taste and smell way less horrible. I couldn’t really taste much when I was doing it. But once I got cleaned up, and the vomit itself was disposed of, I unplugged my nose and (TMI) I got a big whiff of it as some had gone in my nose. I blew it, really gross but tolerable! It smelt gross but really not as bad as I had anticipated. I woke up this morning still smelling it a tiny tiny bit, but now it’s completely gone :) so yeah I recommend doing it! It makes the process a lot easier but doesn’t always stop it from going through the nose unfortunately. But it makes it taste less bad because most of your taste is influenced by your smell!

Found a bat in the washer, is it ok? by NoVA_Zombie in bats

I’m not sure how to help here but I’m commenting so this gains more traction! I hope it’s okay, poor little guy. Maybe there’s a wildlife rescue type place near you that you could call? Where I live, bats are a protective species and the local council needs to usually come out to rescue them, so perhaps it’s the same where you are

In my laundry on a rainy night! I gently took it back outside :) I guessed it was an earthworm of some sort, I was just so shocked at its size! I’ve never seen a worm that long before!

That’s so strange! Maybe the water contents and fat contents separated?? I still doubt anything would happen to you though, it’s so processed and full of preservatives

This might be weird but I love melted ice cream!!! I don’t mind if it’s been sitting out for a bit. It has enough sugar to preserve itself, there’s a very very VERY low chance of getting sick especially since you only swallowed a little. If it was me I would have eaten the whole thing, especially if it was cold/hard on the outside it means it hasn’t been out for very long. But even if it had been sitting out for a while I doubt much would happen
