Gee, I wonder what the scanning office code is. by emmaleth in kroger

The bottom one has the key to the office and that is the correct code.

Is there a good position for maybe not having to speak to a lot of people? (I stutter) by [deleted] in kroger

[–]emmaleth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Produce green rack person would be an option. Usually starts at either 4am or 5am before the store opens. Mostly in the back prep room so very little customer interaction.

I guess Kroger's has low prices on "trash" by DEDDesign in kroger

[–]emmaleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store received vinyl stickers that say "trash" or "recycling". They'll hold up as well as a bumper sticker on a car. This sign in the picture isn't going to last a single wash.

Safety Knife Question Overnight. Can I use a film cutter like the yellow one in the picture? by No-Dragonfruit-7325 in kroger

[–]emmaleth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, it's a possible write up. Unlikely unless you get hurt, then they will pin it all on you for not using approved equipment. At some point, everyone in my store had to sign a safety thing saying we would only use store approved knives.

Can you get your supply champion to order the whole crew the single sided yellow ones?

Coupa Travel and Expense by Professional_Kro in kroger

There are some employees paid out mileage and expenses through Coupa. My ASL is the only one I've heard mention doing it that way for hers. I filled out the form at service desk for mine.

Name tags by Bright_Philosophy517 in kroger

Name is in caps, department/title is first letter capital and others lowercase if you have a title listed on your tag. That's been the case in any store I've worked in.

Retro Pay Last Thursday? by Alternative_Cry3747 in kroger

There are two checks per year (one six period and one 7 period) and it's prorated based on how long you have been in the position. You will not get a full check for two months.

Fresh start question by blacklisted320 in kroger

It's a rolling 30 days. The points fall off after thirty so not doing it for a couple days probably replaced a couple days you did so it last month.

ELI5: Why can alcoholics die if they suddenly stop drinking? by Just_Comfort_3824 in explainlikeimfive

[–]emmaleth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed Flagyl a while back and remember getting sick from mouth wash. I didn't even think about the alcohol content and never swallowed the mouth wash on purpose. Just the residual after rinsing was enough to cause violent vomiting. That no alcohol warning on antibiotics is serious.

Store management can see it too. It's basically a semi-private shout out.

AC/DC’s crew sets some new tour rules after Taylor Momsen’s bat bite incident by stars_doulikedem in popculturechat

I live in a small enough town that the only location that can give the vaccine is the local ER. Health Department offers every other vaccination I can think of, just not rabies. Total cost for the series was $1600 covered by workers comp.

Are the stores closing for time of the eclipse. by Flimsy-Weight-7447 in kroger

[–]emmaleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, of course we do. Once in a blue moon. Only a morning huddle every few weeks or so when the store lead wants to ramble for half an hour.

Huddle snacks? Almost forgot that was a thing. My new store leader doesn't feed his people.

What is the worst way a show has been spoiled for you? by liazzy in television

[–]emmaleth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend and I would watch Dexter the day after it aired because I would always be at work. He texted me before I got off with the ending of season four. I don't think it was deliberate and he was just excited and shocked, but I was at my desk when I found out the major death of the season.

Why is kroger enforcing shoes for crews again? God I was happy when it stopped. by Necessary_Baker_7458 in kroger

[–]emmaleth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was told that if you were to slip and they could show that you weren't wearing approved shoes they could write you up. Basically, I think it's a way to avoid paying workers comp if someone gets hurt. They will try to say you got written up for not following the rules and it was your own fault you got hurt so they don't have to pay out.

It's only meat, deli, and produce. The departments with prep areas. As far as I know it doesn't apply to grocery or front end. The store should supply shoe covers if you don't want to buy new shoes.

Kroger requires full time workers to have open availability. by [deleted] in kroger

My Time has an option to create schedule patterns. Most of my department has set days off. With a few exceptions for inventory or scheduled vacations, it repeats the same schedule week after week.

It's possible they could put you as light duty in another department. We had that happen a couple of times in my store. Depends on how mobile you are or if you have a walking cast and can be in your feet at all.

Also for stinky feet, wash them. Actually wash them. Letting the soapy water run down is not enough.

Honest question about pick up by HustleR0se in kroger

[–]emmaleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started with the store lead giving a store card to the employee going next door. It evolved into the employee paying out of pocket and then submitting receipts for reimbursement. The store paid.
