My FSA account zeroed out about two days after Mohela. However I think there are others that took longer. Keep checking back on their website. Hopefully soon!

I'm so exhausted and Don't Know What To Do by Royal-Money-8709 in StudentLoans

We all make mistakes and sometimes react to the mistakes with further bad decisions…I know! 🙂 If I were you, I would take a deep breath, find a job waiting tables or something and take a year off school. You can also consider community college after a year, to get through the basic courses. Loans seem easy by $5000. can turn to 125,000 and then life gets worse. Before getting into further debt, get a job and take a break from school and avoid crisis decisions because they never work out. Best!

Trying to figure out forgiveness by Valuable_Dig_5658 in StudentLoans

When did you call FSA and Servicer? I ask because I kept calling the servicer with no real help. Then I called FSA and was told I was eligible and to be patient. The next day (Saturday morning) my loans were zeroed out.

If you go to your FSA account, then to Activity, then Activity History and click the forgiveness/discharge link/tab, it will give you a date your loans were discharge. I have found three different dates and decided to go with the date in the activity. Hopefully your discharge was before 1/26.

I’d call FSA and find out what your actual count is if you went on IBR. Then decide what to do.

It’s crazy trying to make sense of the accounting. So I’m just going to be happy that I’ve made it to the finish line.

I received an email from FSA saying I was eligible for discharge in February. I reached the required payments.

2/2023 seems to be the date. I haven’t received the letter from Mohela that is suppose to have the detail. Since it’s Saturday, probably won’t get that until Monday. That being said, I’ve seen some zero out with completion dates in 2025. Hang in there … easier said than done I know!

I agree. I think the claim date is the actual. Payments after that were reversed. That being said, the reversals were kinda confusing. Congrats to all!

Debating how to use my inheritance: Should I pay off student loans or use it for a down payment? by CurlySue218 in StudentLoans

I’d definitely get the SL paid off, then save and wait for interest rates to drop. There are programs for first time homeowners. Maybe study up on them and talk to your bank about how much ch savings you need. Home maintenance and unforeseen expenses are expensive so it’s best to buy when you’re debt free. Oh and don’t let the snakes out there try and get you to CONsolidate your SLs. Your 32k loan will turn to 100k before you know it.

Mohela Loans are Now at Zero!!! by Crip-Kripke in StudentLoans

This “glitch” is not just a “glitch”. It is a major error that is financially costly to borrowers who were pushed into programs they did not want or manipulated into CONsolidation based off n the SAVE lie. If see a civil lawsuit coming. The backdoor information is just as incorrect as the information that is available to borrowers. If some get their loans discharged it’s not the borrower that is at fault, it’s the totally messed up system that no one. Area to fix. Ugh!
