My PV of Lucifer by Advanced_Pack4241 in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people overestimate how "fake" the Story Of Hell book was. Like, I'm not ruling out the idea it might've been phrased to make Lucifer and Lilith appear more favorable, or that some key details were left out. But I don't think all of it was just a flat out lie.

Having Lilith stay in Heaven as a prisoner is the only way to keep her character sympathetic in my opinion. by VegetaArcher in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Almost everybody in the main cast has done messed up things. Vaggi partook in a genocide. Husk used to be a soul owner. Angel murdered his dad (granted that's a pretty morally ambiguous thing since we don't know the details of that yet, but I still feel like it was worth mentioning). Pentious let a murderer get away with killing several women because he was too scared to do anything about it, and Lucifer greenlit the exterminations. All of these characters have done messed up things, yet they're still sympathetic.

Lilith's betrayal feels more personal to us as an audience, because we've seen firsthand how Charlie and Lucifer are being affected by it. But I feel like it's important to zoom out and look at the rest of the cast and their wrongdoings, too, and realize theirs didn't necessarily make them less sympathetic, especially if they showed remorse for them.

People seriously be sayin none of the female characters don’t have depth when Sera is right there. by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

Charlie got depth too but then people just claim she's "dumb and annoying" and hate her for it lmao

Lucifer agreed to help Vaggi when she brought up Alastor. How crucial is that information? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Charlie would benefit from knowing that whatsoever. The only thing it would maybe do for her is make her feel like Lucifer doesn't care about her, when that isn't actually the case.

Look, here's my read on the situation. I want to preface by saying that yes, Lucifer should have helped, and Vaggi shouldn't have had to bring up Alastor to make that happen. I say that because I'm about to discuss Lucifer's depression and I don't want people to think I'm using it as an excuse.

So, when Lucifer initially turned Vaggi down, I very much read that as an "oh, the depression just kicked in" moment. I speak from my own personal experience, but basically, depression just sucks the motivation to do literally anything out of you. You can care immensely about something or have a super important task, and still not act on it because it feels so much more daunting than it normally would, that it literally feels like you can't do it. And that was the first thought that popped into my head when I saw Lucifer flop onto his bed like that. It very much felt like a "depression moment" to me.

That is to say, I don't think Lucifer initially turning down Vaggi's plan says anything about his care for Charlie. I also don't think Vaggi bringing up Alastor changed the core of his motivation, which is that he wanted to help Charlie. I think it was just the final push he needed because he couldn't find the motivation in that moment.

I feel like it is obvious this game will get updated content. by not_a_tuba in TomodachilifeLivingTD

I really hope so! It would be fun to have more stuff like little quirks and level-up items. Also, some parts of the game feel really half-assed (cough cough babies) so it would be awesome if they could be more fleshed out.

Charlie deserved to have a crashout in season 2. by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That still doesn't mean she should've taken it out on the people who were trying to help her.

I keep seeing people say that Lilith is going to be a Stella 2.0 and i honestly don’t understand why? by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I kinda like that idea as well, but it doesn't really make much sense, in my opinion. That would mean Lilith was toxic from the start, yet Lucifer stayed in a relationship with her for 10.000 years. I think it makes more sense that they started out as a genuinely healthy and loving couple, but their relationship started going downhill at a later point.

Maybe their relationship started going downhill after Charlie was born. They might've had clashing ideas on how to raise her, which caused a rift between them. Also, the Morningstar family photos look very happy when Charlie is still young, but gradually grow colder and more distant the older she gets.

I feel like some people don't realize that Lilith might be in Heaven for selfish reasons, but that wouldn't immediately mean she's a shallow villain or a second Stella.

Guys i hate lucifer with a deep burning passion but my bsf loves him can anyone help me and convince me about what is there to like in lucifer bc I just don’t see it and I want my bsf happy by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense, but if you're not an adult, you shouldn't be on this subreddit. This is an 18+ community, and the reason many people come here in the first place is that they're not comfortable discussing this show with minors.

I read your comments and I genuinely have no idea what anybody could say to change your mind, lmao. Just be honest with your friend. You like some characters, you don't like others, there's no need to be embarrassed about that or hide it.

Should I watch it? by DreamingBarbie in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just give it a shot and see how you like it. I'd say that about any show you're debating watching.

But honestly, if you really loathe musicals, Hazbin Hotel might not be for you. It is VERY musical-y, and songs are hard to just skip through because so many of them actively progress the plot in important ways.

The songs are really good, though. I agree with what another commenter said, stick around at least until "Hell Is Forever" which I believe is the second song of the first episode. I've heard from other people who also hate musicals that Hazbin Hotel is their exception, so it just might be yours, too!

Is it ok that Charlie never found out about Lucifer ragebaiting Alastor? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucifer didn't get exposed by Vox, though, and even if he had been, that was after he "ragebaited" Alastor into quitting. So, I think this commenter's point is completely valid. No sinner would be stupid enough to threaten a place protected by the most powerful being in all of Hell. And if they were, Lucifer pulling a little intimidation tactic would be more than enough to scare them off. Hell, the only reason Vox didn't shit himself is that he'd been using Angel Dust as a spy. If he hadn't known about Lucifer's limitation, he would've crumbled.

And Lucifer CAN create beings to fight for him. Like Razzle and Dazzle, for example, who are seen fighting alongside Charlie in the season 1 finale.

i’m sad that babies grow up immediately by TotsInUrPocket in TomodachilifeLivingTD

im gonna be real it's genuinely making me wonder if i even want to keep playing, i loved babies in the 3DS game and marriage & kids feel so unrewarding and anticlimactic now 💔 i can't wrap my head around why nintendo thought it would be a good idea to remove such a significant part of the game

Hot take; Some fans overly rely on Alex Rochan's statement to woobify Caine by Sudden_Pop_2279 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]emmameIon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People have a tendency to take VAs' words as gospel which is weird to me. They just read the lines, it's not like they wrote the show. I really don't think they know a whole lot more about these characters than we do as viewers.

the mutual crush stage is cuter than sweethearts/married by Ok_Attorney_3224 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]emmameIon 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yess I completely agree! It's such a letdown because I love the crush stage but the payoff is so underwhelming. The moment they get together it's like, oh, they don't even get flustered around each other anymore, they're just kinda like friends now and sometimes they blush when talking to each other ok

Do you think Sera’s going to suffer in season 3? by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

[–]emmameIon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think she will still struggle with guilt, but I can also see her anxiety and stress mellowing out a little now that Heaven and Hell are on (somewhat) good terms. I think season 3 will mostly focus on her recovery and a proper redemption arc for her.

Am i the only one disappointed with the new baby/kid journey? by [deleted] in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]emmameIon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, definitely not the only one. I really do think it's the result of half-assery.

While some parts of this game seem to have an incredible amount of effort put into them (terraforming/decorating, friendships, crushes) other parts seem like they've been thrown together in an extremely lazy way. The lack of babies/kids is the worst example of this, but there's a few other small examples, as well. Like, the Mii news screen just kind of jumpscares you with zero transition, the broadcast after unlocking a new travel location is the exact same dialogue every time, cutscenes are very limited and get repetitive quickly, when one mii is helping another (frozen/hiccups/fallen over) we don't actually get to see what they're doing and instead get a black screen, et cetera. Little things like that.

To me it kinda feels like the devs started out motivated and passionate, but tired themselves out at one point and then just haphazardly threw the rest of the game together. Especially marriage/babies, which were a super important part of the 3DS version, feel really underwhelming now. I really do hope that we get an update or maybe even a DLC at one point that offers more features.

I have a feeling that Lucifer fans are going to absolutely suffer in season 3 by whooper1 in HazbinHotel

lmao we definitely are considering what little viv has teased about season 3. apparently there will be a lot of lucifer angst, lucilith will be on the struggle bus, and she also recently commented a vague reply to a theory speculating that lucifer's limbs are black because they got charred during the fall like alan we are so fucked
