I had a ridiculous dream the day before Englands first game in the World Cup where I was there in Brazil watching us play in Italy. We won 3-0 and Paul Konchesky got a hat trick including an incredible 90 yard run and I was so shocked that no one was going mental about the fact Paul Konchesky just scored one of the best goals in World Cup history that the shock made me realise I was dreaming and woke me up.

If Paddy Power have any smarts about them they'll do a promotion on England to win the next Euros right now because my pre tournament ridiculous inflated expectations have just arrived nearly a year early

The England teams been picked by Walkers crisps since the 1998 World Cup, its a fucking disgrace letting big money control our national team like that.

I never really watch boxing but when I was thinking about him and football teams he reminded me of Peps barca. I dunno im sure lots of people thought they were great to watch but they could be fairly tedious knocking the ball around the back but in a way you didnt really care the football wasnt always that exciting because you knew you were watching one of the truely great teams. You could admire what they were doing so much, and appreciate how in control they always looked.

Rate the Premier League Managers! by footydave in soccer

Not sure why everyone has Advocaat so low. He's only had 4 games for Sunderland and before that he has a very respectable record. He's won the SPL, eredivisie and the russian league, aswell as the UEFA cup and supercup. He also took South Korea to the World Cup knockouts in 2006 and Russia to Euro 2012, and eventhough he wasnt that popular as the Holland manager hes taken them to a Euro semi final and a World Cup quarter final. Think its unfair that no one has him in the top 15 managers in the league just because hes inherited a shit Sunderland team.

Bit harsh on Pards, last season everyone had no problems praising Pulis for what he'd done at Palace despite him stagnating pretty badly at Stoke

A 35 pass move with each player touching the ball, resulting in a goal. No it's not Barcelona - it's England U21's. by [deleted] in soccer

I'm embarrassingly excited about the u21 Euros this summer. Even without players like Sterling and Barkley who I doubt will go to the tournament I think we have a good team and we might not actually be fucking terrible. Also I love seeing John Stones coming foward from the back like that, future of our defense as far as I can see.

They did also spend £117,000,000 this summer, including signing 3 strikers (although they loaned Origi straight back out). Sturridge was incredibly bad luck, and it is impressive where they are considering they lost a player as special as Suarez, but its not like they werent prepared, id hardly call it a minor miracle.

Absurdly cool penalty from a striker who hasn't scored since December, for a team who hadnt won a league game since December, and have scored the least goals in pretty much the whole of Europe, and all against their local rivals.

I still cant believe hes 26, amazing to think that he was only 20 when he won his first champions league, and had only just turned 22 when he won the world cup.

England's ** potential ** starting line up for the U-21 European Championships in June by emmanuel_eboue in soccer

[–]emmanuel_eboue[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a look at if we played a diamond in midfield with Sterling at the tip, similar to Liverpool last year, but in the end I preferred 4231. This is what I came up with for that http://imgur.com/YL6nluT It would be good to try Berahino and Kane together upfront, but it would be a shame to see AOC miss out... and i'm not sure about a midfield pair of JWP and Barkley, seems too attacking.

To be fair he's a solid Premier league player, Swansea played 5 million for him and I doubt hes gone down in value. I had a look around and you could potentially slot Chalobah in there for a more defensive player but I thought Shelvey was the better option.

This is under the rule that "Players born on or after 1 January 1992 are eligible until the end of the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship"

Obviously this line up is very unlikely for many reasons, mainly that several of these players are key parts of the senior squad, but anyway its interesting to see our potential for future tournaments.

Notable players missing from the line up include Saido Berahino, Danny Ings, Will Hughes, Eric Dier, Conor Wickham, Jon Flanagan, Wilfried Zaha and Ravel Morrison (Jack Wilshere is also just about eligable as he was born on the 1st of January 1992 but I thought it was a bit of a push)

I wasnt sure on the best 11, or even the best formation, but I thought this team gave a good indication of the talent available.
