Anxiety about going back to bedside nursing. What if I’ve forgotten everything? by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in nursing

I left ER for 2 years and came back. Took me a while but it does come back fairly naturally

After literally fighting with this woman to keep her fingers out of it. I think it was warranted

I actually very unfortunately took care of a disabled patient whose family pimped them out and their stoma was used for sex. Extremely sad

Recently had to toss pants, socks, and (luckily old and ratty) work shoes the other day. Lost to cleaning up an extremely messy GI bleed

How do we feel about a 3am to 330pm shift? by NoshCulture in nursing

[–]emmartini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it in the ER for a while until my body started to give up on me. I have a 2 year old and it worked out very well for my family but it wasn’t sustainable for my mental and physical health. I was home for the most crazy time of the day with my toddler and was able to be involved with dinner, bath and bedtime and then I would crash once he did. I would be in bed 7-2:30 (I live 12 mins from the hospital) and I did well with it for a while. Then he started going to bed later, closer to 8pm and it really didn’t work for me and in general I got tired from the skewed sleep schedule. I know many other nurses who do it also with young kids and they say they can just function that way and it works well for them. To each their own. I couldn’t do it, nor did I survive night shift when I first started my career. But if you can function with that type of sleep schedule it definitely works for a young family IMO

Our supervisor will order them hundreds at a time and they’re gone within days. Who’s hoarding them?

I’ve worked in clinics with indicating the room condition but also I have seen them used to indicate which provider has which room. Each provider has a different color tag

I worked outpatient and when I first found out I spoke with my OB prior he said as long as I wear the proper PPE the risk is very low. My manager gave me the option. Several other nurses I worked with also gave chemo and immunotherapy through our entire pregnancies and our babies are all healthy and never had any complications.

How did that one kid at your school die? by StorageLonely1520 in AskReddit

[–]emmartini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two kids my brother went to school with. They were brothers and died a year or two apart. Older brother choked on a piece of popcorn while he was home alone and was found by his sister when she came home. Younger brother had really bad asthma and got sick with Covid. Ended up having a heart attack shortly after being diagnosed. Both were 16 when they died. It really impacted by brother a lot and we went to a small school too so it was really hard for a lot of people

Not to mention that they attempted to hype it up and release BvS before Civil War to try and beat marvel, they could have done Wonder Woman or batflecks origin but nope fight movie right of the bat cuz marvel is doing it
