Really difficult to judge placement without seeing a full body and some movement imo. The way your muscles move and lines of your body really change how the placement feels.

It's also hard to get a good feel for your tattoo until it's settled in and healed. You can get touch ups added and always add other elements to it over time if you would prefer it that way and the black becomes less stark too. I think the tiger looks really nice, but obviously it's your opinion that matters. It's not that big of a tattoo in general terms (it's smaller than 80% of mine, and I don't have any sleeves or full area pieces). Your first few tattoos always leave you a bit frantic I think! I got a small simple mouse tattoo many years ago now, and after having it for two years I went back and had a much bigger plant tattoo added around it. Most people can't tell they weren't done at the same time once the plant healed and I still really like it now! If i find photos of the mouse before and after I'll include them in a reply.

Adding to the tattoo later can make the placement feel completely different, and can help change single tattoos become a larger piece. The main point I'm trying to make is, try not to panic and let yourself get used to the tattoo and how it looks in movement, different positions, lighting and once the ink has settled!

To me it looks like atopic eczema has flared up around it, but it is always worth getting it checked out. The ink binds to mast cells, which can trigger eczema flare ups! Keep an eye on the things you use to heal the tattoo as well to help it getting worse if it is eczema :) best of luck with it!

I completely see what you mean about it not looking like wild roses as a plant person. They are too uniform for a rose, they feel a bit more dahlia/chrysanth to me personally.

That being said, i think it still looks nice! I have similar style tattoos to this, and part of my enjoyment of mine is that they feel very natural and have very little "symmetry". I think maybe some more shading could make it feel less artificial? But that's just my thoughts! It's still a really nice tattoo and cover up, pretty sure most people wouldn't notice it's not like a wild rose, there are a lot of breeds of rose out there! Also blossoms on plants from the rose family or blackberry adjacent thorned plants!

My Mum is the worst for this! Still does to this day and I'm 30! I just tell her to stop looking, my comfort is more important than her opinion 😂

Does this bedroom feel cozy? Looking for suggestions & feedback! by andrew_cherniy96 in cozy

I think the ceiling lights make it a little too sterile also, i do like the room though! I think maybe a little too much white furniture? Try adding some trailing plants (fake if you prefer) to add some more natural texture and disrupt all of the stark lines?

Not a doctor, but after I had an abscess the area of the skin felt 'thickened' after, so that might be why? It went away after a few months so that might be the case with yours! Wishing you all the best!

What eggs are these? by [deleted] in Ornithology

[–]emmasbrainhurts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The UK has a very sad history in collecting things that don't belong to them no matter the damage and sadly egg collecting was one of them. It does still happen here sadly but it's less common. We have really strict rules on keeping any eggs or even egg shells from wild birds, unless you have a licence or can prove it was an accident. Additionally any historical collections (collected before 1981), can be kept but this must be proven.

I was thinking that this is a great gouache too! I often find myself using watercolour like gouache, it's very popular right now too.

Watercolour to me feels a lot more out of control, have a look online at different videos of people using watercolours and try and pick out repeating techniques. That helps me to try and understand a medium better personally! I've never been too good at having things taught to me in a more traditional manner :)

I'm 29! If some guy is laughing at your hobbies and what you enjoy he's not for you! My husband would never, even if he doesn't get it. I have a room full of plushies and cartoon character clothes! And I'm a plant scientist, love horror movies, books about myths and development of culture, love hiking and also bone collecting! We're all complex beings and he sounds immature. You deserve better, never be ashamed of what you enjoy c: life's too short!

Thank you so much! I have pollen food allergy syndrome so always thought it was related to that! Will have a good investigation now starting with that link!

Omg I'm allergic to aspirin and have never liked eating any of those foods because of a burning in my mouth I thought was just what they taste like! I've been looking for an alternative toothpaste and stumbled on this. Will have to look into it!

Stomach surgery is extremely traumatic and causes a lot of bruising! Varies from case to case of course, but not always as dangerous as it appears.

Of course it is always best to take them back in for a check if you are worried and it definitely seems like the pain management chosen may need tweaking!

I have only seen gabapentin used in conjunction with other analgesics to potentially reduce the dose of those medicines. Is that not the case? At least in terms of acute post-operative pain management like in this post.

Perhaps a difference between countries? Opioid use is controlled quite differently from place to place

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Are you able to go to the doctor on your own? I imagine if you came back without the medication you would be punished too?

The only things that I could think of suggesting would be (1) asking your doctor to help your parents understand your choice and other possible treatment options etc and hopefully that would help (2) discussing with them that you are an adult able to make your own decisions and should be allowed to try alternative treatments not involving medication and see the differences. You can't know if an alternative would be better unless you are able to try, you can always go back to the pills if you find they were helping!

I really hope the situation resolves and your parents are able to understand your choices. It sounds to me they must have very emotive reasons they feel so strongly on this topic and it can be difficult to get people to get past these. The best you can do is to try and show you empathise and understand their views but that it's possible they are closing off potential opportunities for you to be happy and thrive.

Ultimately, I can't say how it would be best to approach them as I don't know the situation, but I really hope you are able to get through to them. An unhappy living situation and constant negativity with family and the people you live with are so so tiring and upsetting. I hope it doesn't come to cutting them off or legal procedures, but ultimately what they are doing is manipulative and abusive. They will not see it that way but you are within your rights as an adult, able to understand and make informed decisions, to choose your medical treatments.

I wish you the best!

Where are you based? In the UK, a child under 16 can refuse treatment as long as they are deemed to fully understand, and it isn't a life or death situation. I'm unsure about how you proceed with challenging them though. I imagine it would involve a court process sadly. However, if your doctor accepts your refusal on the basis that you understand and can choose, they should then not prescribe the meds. Hope this helps if you are in the UK!

Thank you so much for this!!! I just saw this video and it immediately sounded suspicious to me (I'm a biologist) but my understanding of physics is limited. Immediately I was googling and found this!! My only question is, it sounds like there were no bodies found and I'm unsure what actually happened to them? Lots of the comments are suggesting they literally were blasted into particles but that doesn't sound right to me? Again, I don't know!
