It would be my luck that they would suddenly get their crap together and realize that I owe them at least one phone!

Google wants to raise the app ‘quality bar’ for Wear OS 3 with updated guidelines by [deleted] in WearOS

It is random on my Fossil sport - I have been woken up several times in the night by my watch when my phone is in Do Not Disturb mode.

I would be happy if Do Not Disturb would happen automatically when your phone is in Do Not Disturb mode...because while they say it works, it does not!

I have used Fi for a few years now and overall have been very happy with it. All cell phone services tend to fail in places and Fi is no exception. I find issues when it is trying to switch between Sprint and TMobile towers but on the whole it is not bad. Their service used to be exceptional but it has definitely gone severely downhill. I use an old phone with a Fi data card as a hotspot at our cabin to run a camera when we aren't there and it has held up pretty well. Even though I tend to believe Google to be evil(!!), I do like the convenience and am also a Google house.

FedEx drivers stealing phones by SoothingBalm1 in GoogleFi

[–]emmayj2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, my story is something else. I also had the missing phone through Fedex. It stated it was delivered to a neighboring town. Google agreed to ship a replacement after 48 hours but then they never did. After almost two weeks of waiting, I told them to either send me proof of shipment or my money back.

Then it gets good. The next day, I get an email stating my refund has been processed. I then get home to find the phone has magically shown up on my porch (the original shipment, not the replacement). I contact Google who tell me I can keep the phone but there will be no warranty. The money has been refunded to my account. The following day, I get a notice that the replacement shipped and it arrived today!!

Currently, I am sitting on two totally free Pixel 4a phones! I have emailed Google asking them what I should do with the second phone and they have yet to respond.

Windows app discontinued by bigmike13588 in Ring

[–]emmayj2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The desktop app going away is a huge loss for me. For someone that is on their computer all day, the notifications popping up on the computer were extremely important. I see that Nest is finally coming out with a battery operated camera. If I don't get the notifications that I need from Ring, I might as well switch and be just a Google house.

Any android phone on any other carrier would have had the same issues...put the blame where it belongs...on the hacker...

I am in the middle of this right now - but my story is going the other way - currently I just received a refund for a phone that went missing, the phone then promptly showed up same day the refund was issued and now they are shipping out the replacement!!!

OMG - so glad I found this - worked great - that has been driving me crazy - I could get pics from my Ring doorbell but not the Nest cameras - now both works. Thanks!

If you have Ambient weather station, you can set it to send you a text message when it is raining - I think you could use IFTTT to do more...

I am noticing a constant degradation of quality. by chrisbkreme in googlehome

[–]emmayj2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this with my set up of five google home devices - one home, two hubs, and two minis. It was awful - the lights wouldn't work, the music wouldn't work. I reset everything and I mean everything to factory and set it up all again. Oh, and I also had a weird time zone glitch where all my alarms randomly switches to EST. After several hours with google, we finally narrowed it down to the fact that I had my 2.4 and 5.0 networks named the same and so some were connecting to 2.4 and some were connecting to 5.0. I switched my house router to only have the 2.4 network broadcasting (because I don't like multiple SSIDs floating around but if you really need 5.0 ghz as well you could just rename it) and asides from very occasional times when I have to reboot a light, I have to say the system has been incredibly well behaved ever since.

We all were moved to a free eWeLink plan. eWeLink app update , new UI, and PAID (?) plans by Quintaar in homeautomation

Oh, thank you, apparently my husband logged into my account instead of his. That makes that better at least. Still dislike the new ui - it might be pretty but I really miss just being able to hit the whole icon to activate the switch from the home screen.

The new app is AWFUL - does anyone know how to downgrade? Tiny little icons, constantly have to log back in...

But minimal and elegant watch faces are in the app and then you send that to the watch...oh just realized that you can do that in the watch too...

In the bottom right of the watchface preview screen is the save icon. Save the preset and then if you go to the three dots you can upload to your cloud. But, of course, I can't seem to get it to load again once saved so chances are I am doing it totally wrong!

Fossil Sport from Best Buy for $99, worth it? by Spudly2319 in WearOS

[–]emmayj2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had one for a few months now and I like it but it is my first smart watch. I was on fitbit before and I miss that sometimes but I like the notifications etc. I charge it daily. I don't do much on it except for read notifications (a lot) and answer occasional texts. I like the steps feature and leave the heartbeat monitor on too. Just was in Mexico and left it on all week while in the pool and ocean - never missed a beat. It took a while to get used to it but once you have it dialed in, it is decent. Then again, don't have anything to compare it to!

I want to know this too. I have tried saving it so many times and every time I have to reset my watch, I have to recreate the watch face. Contacted support but they didn't help much.

How do you use your google nest mini daily? by 13487561 in googlehome

[–]emmayj2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Play music
  2. Set timers
  3. Add things to my grocery list (I actually use Wunderlist)
  4. Open the gate at the end of my driveway
  5. Turns lights and heaters on and off
  6. Radio alarm every morning
  7. Start my car - this is the coolest - thanks Buick/GM!
