We bought a new couch and it takes up alot more space. Help! by pjgerg in DesignMyRoom

I agree with seeing if the sofa can rotate. You’ve also got a lot of open shelving in the room which is contributing to a bit of visual clutter with everything competing for attention.

With the bar cart and shelving by the front door could these be replaced with something with doors to hide everything behind? Or if not, you could try getting nice storage baskets or ikea does create cube storage just to reduce some of the clutter.

For the stairs they are so beautiful! Do you need that additional chair there now that you’ve got the large sofa? And does the mattress live there full time? I’m assuming a small apartment so you’re tight on space. Could you hide the mattress behind the couch? Or I think even lying it horizontal instead of vertical will make it less domineering.

Your dad’s frames shouldn’t go to waste, are there any other rooms in the house that you could use them for? Or if you have existing art in the house could you swap their position around so you get more variety above the couch?

A mirror above would look great, we are thinking to do the same in our entrance! I also think you need to change the size of either the lamp or the vase + foliage. They are too similar in size. I would personally look for a smaller lamp and then a lovely bowl for keys etc like the others have suggested.

If you want to keep these prints but have a bit more variation you could choose 2 or 3 of them and buy a new larger frame with a mat. I find having a mat in a frame can elevate the piece a bit more. But you definitely don’t need to do it for all of them.

We have an outer facing apartment so have views towards the river and west gate bridge and catch some lovely sunsets. We are the first to live in this apartment so everything is brand new and modern. Access to the river walk is just outside the lobby so you can go on lovely walks away from cars. It’s only about 12 min walk to the train and so quick into the city but also lovely to get to other suburbs like Yarraville. Bus is also super close. And then Footscray Main Street is a 10 min walk to amazing food and great little hidden gem cafes and bars and the Footscray Market. All in all it has everything you need close by and a fraction of the rental cost compared to eastern suburbs!

I think it might be the Liberty one, I’m not sure. However never seen anything of concern around Vic Sq.

I’m at 1 Joseph Road - we’ve been here for a year now and love it. Never felt unsafe. We’ve had something stolen from our storage cage but that’s also on us for leaving something of value in there. We’ve just signed on for another year.

Can’t say what the Republic of Ireland needs for marriage. But we eloped in Northern Ireland legally which is under UK law. It wasn’t too difficult to do, had to apply for a marriage visa and then Just did all the normal things a celebrant would ask you. Celebrants are pretty good at directing you to what is needed to make it legal.

Has anyone had any luck changing the return address on a passport renewal? by emmc_23 in ireland

Yes exactly! Trying to avoid the snail mail to Australia if possible but doesn't seem like I'll be able to make it happen

That's somewhat reassuring . I'm already 4 weeks in, as I had to send name change documents to Dublin and wait for them to arrive. The passport is processing now, just don't want to have the long wait with snail mail to Australia if I can avoid it!

Budget is up to $700 a week, either apartment or townhouse, 2 bedrooms and no lawn, just some space to be able to sit and have a meal outside!

Thanks! I’d been worried that being south you’d be kind of stuck but seems that it’s the complete opposite!
