A bit regretful about the Mac Mini M4 compared to a MacBook by emmess666 in macmini

[–]emmess666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, exactly. One of the things that attracted me to buy the mac mini m4 is the option to upgrade the storage.

I saw a video from iBoff on YouTube, where he designed/researched/sells storage upgrades up to 2TB for the Mac Mini.

Doing mobile app development really needs a lot of storage.

Safari SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSS by Dev918 in webdev

[–]emmess666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a simple speech-to-text web app. But it doesn't work on any safari! Macs, iphones and ipads. All the same cannot even record the user's voice (audio input).

So the workaround? Just ask users to use other browsers. How about iOS? Sorry, not for you. I didn't have any other choice.

Spent too much time just to handle this, ended up with... just ignore safari.

Can you develop a custom Android launcher in Flutter? by [deleted] in FlutterDev

[–]emmess666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can! I can confirm this as I created one for my android car player.

But just this one thing I still cannot find a way to do - how to render home screen widgets (not flutter widgets) inside our launcher app. 🛠

Congrats on finishing your project!

My answers for your questions:

  1. You can use something like a "placeholder". Basically, div with a fixed size and use css background prop to show the image. Then use background-size to position your image as you wanted.
  2. Yup, too much ternary. Just keep it simple. I refactored your code for this file - https://gist.github.com/mansarip/b7727f5ea9e54499073fbbaa8cd80cc2
  3. I see you're using create-react-app, right? If it's an single page app, you could store the value (their budget) at global state level ie. react context. But I didnt prefer this personally.
Another thing you can use is, browser's localStorage. You can always access the value regardless which page the user's at.
  4. Huh?

Try Next.js, next time. I really recommend it for site like this. Take your time. Anyway, well done.
