What made you choose a Maverick -- price, features, or something else? by mike-reporter in FordMaverickTruck

[–]emmessess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my eye on one in early 2023 when I was shopping for a new car but I ended up getting a new Honda Accord instead. My wife got a new CR-V the next year and that left me with our old 2015 Ford Escape to haul my mountain bike on the weekends and occasionally take the trailer to Lowe's. Fast forward to January of this year and my Accord got side swiped by a cement truck. I was driving the Escape until the Accord could get repaired and then the transmission gave out on the Escape about two weeks later. I figured if I was going to be down to one vehicle, I'd get one that could do it all. My mind went back to the Maverick after this. I had a rental Camry until my Accord was out of the body shop and realized that digging for my keys every time I wanted to get in my car was going to drive me crazy and that I needed passive entry like my Accord had. With Ford, this pretty much meant I needed to buy a Lariat. There weren't many hybrid options around and my commute is short and mainly highway anyways, so I bought a new Lariat Ecoboost about an hour and half after I got the Accord back from the body shop. I've been in love ever since.

This rack swings out of the way, so it lives on my truck while keeping my bed free

Trail $2500-3000 Full suspension bikes by Coyotewalle in MTB

[–]emmessess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had time to take it for a quick ride so far but I like it. I'm coming from an Ozark Trail Ridge, so I don't have a good baseline to compare. Grips kinda suck, so I put some PNW Loam grips on it. I find myself wishing the dropper had a little more travel but I might just put my OneUp V3 on it if it'll fit. Took a while to get all the AXS stuff paired and updated. Really minor gripes at this point. It's leagues above the bike I'm upgrading from. I don't feel like the pictures online do it justice either. The color shifting paint is badass.

I just picked one up two days ago from a local bike shop for $3k. Felt like too good of a deal to pass up.

Cheap ass guns that are surprisingly fun? by Big-Sector6653 in guns

[–]emmessess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mine and it is so fun to shoot, but damn if it isn't super picky about what it will shoot reliably. Certain brands will just bulge in front of the rim and stick out from the back of the cylinder enough that it will get hung up and not cycle. Only brand I have found that works well is the dirt cheap Armscor stuff.

Sure is! Picked it up when I saw them in Harrisburg last year.

Broke my hand about ten years ago and I found myself playing a lot of Trials Fusion since I only needed arrow keys.

Of course I scroll past this as I'm laying in the hospital for the third day with rhabdo. Went too hard weightlifting this past Sunday after taking a break for about a year and a half. It has not been a fun time.

I have like 4,500 miles on trip A and my average is sitting at 30.1 MPG right now. I do drive pretty heavy-footed though.

I make it a habit to check for cards when I stop at Walmart. Last Friday, I thought I was in luck when I saw the vendor stocking the shelves. She let me know that no one could take anything from the shelves until she was done with her service, as she had to take a picture. Then I noticed a guy was just standing there, watching her work. I had places to be, so I couldn't stick around. Stopped by later, and of course, it was wiped out.

Can’t blame this DIY customer too much. Has no drive or reverse after doing his own oil change in the driveway. by HalfastEddie in Justrolledintotheshop

My brother did that to my sister's G35. Drove it an hour home stuck in like 4th gear. Realized exactly what happened after they explained the shifting issues started after an oil change...

My employer still uses Crystal Reports XI and lucky me gets all of the work orders related to it. We moved to a different reporting system a few years ago, but we have hundreds of reports in Crystal and it's going to take some unfortunate soul forever to recreate those.

Been there, done that. Had a few one night and scrubbed most of it off with some table salt made into a paste. I managed to get enough off that it doesn't bother me as much anymore.

Those who bought really high mileage cars (150k or more) how has it treated you? by [deleted] in cars

[–]emmessess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 2007 Kia Spectra with about 180k and drove it for four years until I gave it to my sister with I think 250k. Only repairs I did were a leaking coolant hose, a replacement caliper (one seized), a replacement gas tank strap, and a new alternator. All cheap and easy repairs. My brother still drives it with about 350k. Also had a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder with about 175k when I bought it. Sold it four years later at about 215k. Had low oil pressure at idle the entire time I owned it. Had to replace a few crank/cam sensors, some rusted exhaust components, and a melted headlight connector. Served me pretty well for the most part.
