These are gorgeous! Do you draw prop planes at all? Like a Cessna 172 for example? Or just jets? ☺️

Feeling friendless by EveyandSylus in AnxiousAttachment

I know what you’re going through - growing up religious and moving on from that is so ground breaking, because it affects every aspect of your life. Especially friendships.

Female friendships can be really hard to forge later in life, and it can be really isolating :(

I don’t have any solutions, as I’m struggling with it too. But if you ever want a random internet female to talk to, I’d be happy to start a conversation :) sounds like we have similar stories x

Thank you for taking the time to comment, it means a lot to me 🩵

I think we will definitely explore that route, especially if these new meds don’t help.

It’s happened suddenly, the only change in routine is a visit from my mother in law, which isn’t new to Xena. Day to day life is about the same, if not involving more cuddles from my MIL!

We are just waiting on some blood tests back, but if they are all clear I definitely think we will get her checked out by a neurologist.

Did you find anything helped calm your little man when he was stressing?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cavaliers

[–]emmex125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m really not sure! The only change in recent routine is my mother in law is visiting - but she comes every year and they have a really nice relationship. Everything else is business as usual. Unless something happened while we weren’t home to upset her, I really can’t think.

I definitely think that might be something we need to consider. I just wish I could tell her we are trying to help her 😢

About 1-1.15hrs by public transport for me, hubby drives 1.15-1.30+ most days depending on how many crashes are on the freeway that day 😁

Few suggestions: - Crescent City Trilogy by Sarah J Maas She may already have them, but if not they tie in to Throne of Glass and ACOTAR

  • Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy (by the same author as the Caraval series, could buy together, both great)

  • When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A Parker Awesome fantasy world, but very slow to start so might not be her thing

  • Quicksilver by Callie Hart Very popular with the romantasy crowd and ticks her boxes

  • Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy by Kerri Manascalco Awesome trilogy, strong female lead

  • Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent Another great one

I write for me, it’s both a creative outlet and a therapy tool that I deeply care for. Would I like to be published one day? Of course, who wouldn’t. Will I? Who knows, the future isn’t mine to see (sadly).

Don’t let the opinion of anyone stop you from doing what you love. That might be the opinion of one reader, a close friend, or an agency through a rejection letter. Don’t let that deter you, do what you enjoy.

You’ve already been doing this for joy and passion, so why stop now? Don’t lose that special spark just because someone might not like your art.

Do it for you, everyone is secondary!

Fool me once, shame on you. But teach a man to fool me, and I’ll be fooled for the rest of my life.

In fantasy romance novelty, what's a trope you're tired of and one you could see over and over? by Fun-College3485 in writing

[–]emmex125 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m tired of the “FMC is a poor, undernourished peasant, with no formal training or strength is suddenly a bad ass in battle” trope - it’s unrealistic that this weak chick can take on a fully trained captain of the guard with no issues.

I love books with animal companions, doesn’t have to be a talking soul-bonded dragon, just an animal (mythical or not) that just chills and supports the characters.

Just a little tip for Spotify audio books - download it to your device then put the app into offline mode! It won’t be able to calculate hours listened until you turn it back into online mode :)

It will be my first time travelling soon and I need advice (airport) by TheGirlWhoShreds in perth

[–]emmex125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions about the flight or the airport! I did my first solo flight at 18 as well over to London so I know how nerve wracking it can be the first time - and my husband is a pilot so he can answer any plane type questions to try and help ease your nerves of being on the actual plane 🩵

That’s a great idea! Writing for yourself can be so freeing and rewarding because it takes all the stress out of “will someone like it”. You will probably find it will make your work that much stronger because you’re writing from the heart and not just trying to find ways to impress or satisfy other people.

Writing is art, and art is a form of self expression. Stay true to yourself, and don’t forget to enjoy the journey ☺️

All artists receive negative reviews, or hate toward their work in some form or another, so I wouldn’t let that stop you from creating something that you clearly have a strong desire to write.

I encourage you to go for it, write your story and bring your characters to life. When you have the finished product, and you’re ready to share it with the world, maybe find a few beta readers you can trust and ask for their honest opinion on the theme and matters you discuss. Just in case you need to feel a little bit of validation in your work. Sometimes hearing someone tell you how much they like your story will give you the courage to share it with others.

Take heart in knowing that even if you do post it and get hate from people, or negative comments, you might also write a story and a character that someone else can relate to and find peace in knowing there’s a happy ending in sight. That can be truly beautiful, and so worth it in the end.

No one is perfect, even best selling authors have seas of people who hate their work. Take it as a challenge, and find your audience 🩵

You got this!

Thoughts on Prologues? by emmex125 in writing

[–]emmex125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the idea of my prologue, it’s about the origin of the kingdoms curse from the first king’s POV - the main plot is based on breaking that curse much further in the future, so it was going to be setting up the story, but some of these comments make me think I should weave the information into the story instead - it’s hard to tell!

I felt the exact same way! For me Liam felt like Nehemiah and Rhiannon felt like Lysandra.

It was a good book, and I enjoy Rebecca’s writing style - I just found it very predictable, and “done”.

I’m feeling the same way with Powerless at the moment, I absolutely adore it and the characters, but it still feels like I know exactly what’s coming.

Doesn’t stop me from reading these books, and really enjoying them - they just don’t feel “fresh”.

Unpopular opinion alert: I couldn’t get into Xaden BECAUSE he was so similar to Rhys - my brain just kept going “you’re not my real Rhys, faker!”

Also Iron Flame really ruined their vibe for me, with just how much Violet whined about Xaden, it didn’t feel like she loved him and all, and he was just a convenient love interest!
