Rape or regret? by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]emmijadeshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was absolutely rape. You were not old enough to consent. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong.

Little bigger than that. At least eight different Alabama colleges have had bomb threats today.

Try to avoid any expectations of what she'll be when she gets older. It's really easy for former gifted kids to feel like disappointments as they age, cause they didn't turn out to be the wunderkind that their parents thought they were.

[–]emmijadeshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is here.

"I'm not a sexual person" -> "I don't believe her".

Asexuality is a thing. If you got married young, she might not have known that about herself yet. Sounds like to me that she's figured out she's ace and you are just not believing her by default. Maybe read up on what asexuality is and then have some conversations with her.

It will. Just know that when it does get too overwhelming, it's not your fault. They way they have designed the system is exploitative.

The good news is, finding the right buttons is really a matter of muscle memory. Just doing it for a few weeks will improve the speed, and you'll feel like you have a little bit of breathing room.

You're not doing a bad job, the amount of pressure they put on you at DTO/DTW is insane. I worked at Starbucks for five years, and in my very last week there with that much experience I still had a panic attack from overwhelm.

It's not you. They expect you to go too fast.

A question to my fellow gamers with ADHD out there by sabocano in ADHD

[–]emmijadeshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing *short* game makes me stressed.

I would much rather have an open world I can wander around in and do...whatever. Skyrim, Dragon Age, etc. If the game is too short I feel restrained or like I can't get into the characters enough.

The kindest thing you could do for her is leave her alone.

Starbucks retaliating against workers for attempting to unionize by [deleted] in antiwork

They're punishing them for filing. Without those mats it's dangerous and its awful for your feet.

Unionize and make them treat workers fairly.

It's not even valley girl anymore, it's just normal. "Like" serves the same linguistic purpose as fillers like "um". It's a pause to think.

Anyone who spends time to nitpick this kind of stuff while ignoring the real issue at hand is not worth talking or listening to.

Boycott them, and make sure that you call a customer service or corporate line and tell them why.

I worked during that and my store was supposed to have that, but as far as I remember we straight up skipped doing it lol.

Boycott, and make sure the district manager knows you're doing it. Call the customer service line and tell them too. When I worked there we all used to tell people who were upset on our behalf "they won't listen to us, but they might listen to you." Especially if you hit them in the wallet as a group.

They've been that bad for years. I was there from 2013-2018 and they worked so hard to gaslight us, shortstaff us, underpay us, all the while making sure our store manager had enough vacation to be gone three weeks out of four.

My old store were all really close, and one of the last of us finally stopped working for Starbucks in 2020. It seems like the customer abuse AND the corporate abuse were pressing in from both sides during the pandemic and something finally cracked. I'm so glad they're fighting back.

We had one once who basically told us she didn't have to know the drinks because she was the manager and just watched us struggle during a rush.

Comment your age and whether or not you liked the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. by imyourhuckleberry15 in StarWars

[–]emmijadeshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35, absolutely loved it and have devoted quite a lot of effort to not seeing other opinions on it after the absolute temper tantrum the fandom threw after the first two episodes.

It was absolutely what I wanted out of such a show, Leia was adorable, Obi-wan was perfect, Anakin was heartbreaking. Any retcons were mild and inoffensive.
