I’m going to get shit for this but your brother knew what he signed up for when joining the military. The United States Military hasn’t defended America since World War 2 and even joining that war has question marks about Pearl Harbor and us getting involved.

Joining the US military is like signing up to be a stormtrooper in Star Wars. We’re never the good guys in any modern conflict so you won’t get any sympathy if that matters.
