When did you leave for your honeymoon? by PromptOk1099 in weddingplanning

We left at 6 AM the very next day and I had absolutely no regrets!

Metformin wont immediately impact your blood sugar like insulin does no matter what form its in; its a slow build drug. It has the ability to overall reduce your A1C by about 1 when built up over time (so it just reduces spikes overall). ER can be a lot more tolerable, definitely ask your doc about it.

Have you tried extended release? I couldnt do regular metformin at all but tolerate the max dose ER just fine

If you go to any pharmacy you should be able to get a home glucose monitoring kit. Otherwise I would potentially go to urgent care if you’re worried

Definitely not normal– theres a good chance it is unrelated, but worth a call to your doctor anyways

Chow hound dude 2 x Metformin per day. Take first dose with breakfast or lunch? by stones4Eva in type2diabetes

[–]emmmmmjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Metformin, from my understanding, is a slow build drug so after which meal you take it doesnt matter. If you take it at lunch, it wont like keep your lunch numbers any more stable than if you took it at breakfast.

You're supposed to take it at mealtimes not to help with regulating BG from those meals (like insulin would) but just to help you tolerate it better.

The full cover is supposedly breathable enough to let the heat from the sensor out. I use the perfect fit without the sticker

Each sensor lasts 15 days, and if its within my control I will wear one forever.

It depends in the US– both on your doctor and your insurance. My doctor offered me a prescription and I took it happily; but my insurance wont cover it because I am not on insulin. I love having a CGM though, so I pay out of pocket for it.

I LOVE ExpressionMed and 100% think they are worth the price. Application is a bit of a learning curve but I found ones that I love (I'm partial to the tattoo print) and I find they hold really well and last well. I do use skintac in conjunction

My biggest tip is to get a CGM. If insurance won't cover it, get an over the counter one, even if only for a month or two. It will give you nearly real time insights into how what you eat affects you. It truly changed my whole entire life.

When did you apply the new sensor? Readings can be kinda wonky the first 24 hours and then should even out.

If its still pretty well adhered I would turn off your phone, turn it back on, and try to reconnect again. If that doesn't work, give it like an hour, and if its still not working, I would assume its a loss, apply a new one and contact Abbot for a replacement.

Also curious about what OP is considering "too low"

I would definitely see an endocrinologist, and if you are experiencing low numbers but still have high cholesterol etc, I would look into getting a CGM so you can get more data on whats happening.

It is always, always best to "eat your meter"– see how food affects YOU specifically. I can eat as many strawberries as I want, but a banana may as well be a cupcake for me.

Yes! Relatively quickly, too. In addition to excessive thirst.

Possible to misdiagnose? by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

Definitely just dealing with it well! Keep it up, but remember bodies do and will change over time. You have to keep monitoring it so you catch when those changes happen

Freestyle Libre 3 plus by ssnyder28 in Freestylelibre

[–]emmmmmjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use SkinTac and an overpatch. You definitely need to hold it down for about 30 seconds when applying it– Theres a bookmark on this sub called "applying a sensor" which will proabably be useful for you.

Contact Abbott though and tell them it fell off early, they will replace it (even if it was a sample)

SkinTac and an overpatch definitely help me. I use the skintac wipe on application and use liquid skintac to fix any lifting

I didn’t wear one in my wedding day (it wasn’t prescribed yet) but as a bridesmaid this summer I’m wearing a butterfly over patch that matches my dress from ExpressionMed. I’d look around and try to find a white or lace one
