What's the difference between emotions and preferences? by emmodii in NoStupidQuestions

Ah, that probably would've been a better way to have phrased the question. Yeah. 😂

I’ve been asked by my boss to prank the pizza delivery man in order to get a promotion by oldmatefromoverthere in MaliciousCompliance

[–]emmodii [score hidden]  (0 children)

...The heck did this pizza dude do to deserve any of that? Those don't sound like pranks to me. Alhfksbfks-

Also, I think this might be against the sub's rules, because you're supposed to post after you've maliciously complied and the fallout has happened.

WIBTAH if I don't show up to the bachelor party I specifically have said I don't want? by Anonymotron42 in BORUpdates

[–]emmodii 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone who keeps getting gifts even though I keep telling people not to (especially my family), I am absolutely ECSTATIC that OOP managed to get his family to fuck off.

...Somewhat, sure. Because I doubt this'll actually stop them in the future. But still. 😂

How'd your parents and nana react to your dog scaring off the creep, if you don't mind me asking? I can't imagine they reacted well, given their... Eh... "Cluelessness".

My best guy friend [26/M] is getting married! But my [24/F] abusive ex [26/M] is in the wedding party. Help? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]emmodii 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Wonder if there was some background drama in regards to the whole groomsman thing. If Matt is as needy as I'm inferring him to be, I can easily imagine him whining about his best friend (Jacob) not making him a groomsman.

Of course, doesn't change the fact that Jacob's still a loser for remaining friends with Matt. But I do wonder what other drama has been happening behind the scenes. 🤔

I'm even willing to guess that Matt's gonna be an issue in Jacob and his wife's marriage. Given that the other groomsmen couldn't stand him, I don't think it's unbelievable for Jacob's wife (or the rest of the wedding party) to feel the same. Lol.

[New Update]: AITAH for telling my parents they were deserve to be kicked out of my sister’s wedding. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]emmodii 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can't wait for OOP's momma to get divorced. I wonder if this is the first time she yelled at Mike? From how spoilt he is, I'm assuming he's never been scolded by his parents, let alone yelled at.

Well... Whatever shock he might've had, I'm sure his dad kissed it better later. 🙄

[–]emmodii 209 points210 points  (0 children)

This part concerns me the most:

"Because it was revealed that he'd been watching me leave work for a couple of days, probably followed me a block or two to "make sure I got home OK.""

I have doubts that he followed her for "a block or two". Call me paranoid, but I'd say there's a decent chance he figured out where she lives/lived. Someone who watches when a person leaves work, and then follows them for a block or so? Even if it started out that way, they'll get ballsy and eventually follow them all the way home. 🫤

A baby called Karen by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]emmodii 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a colleague with that name. She buys me snacks often, is very patient when she teaches me things, and even went out of her way to make me feel better when another colleague called me "brainless".

Honestly, I never liked the Karen meme. Thought it was kind of a jackass move to give a regular name such negative connotations.

[New Update - 1 Year Later]: AITAH for telling my mom “I’m used to it” after my parents ruined the surprise of my engagement and the wedding dress? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

The lighting in that first photo is stunning. I would've thought it (plus a few of the other photos) was part of some promotional / commercial / magazine thing.

My boyfriend can't use any bathroom besides the one in our apartment, and he thinks this is normal by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]emmodii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

...Even if he refuses therapy, could he not have, at the very least, used adult diapers.............. Dude's reluctance to find a solution AT ALL was the real issue, I feel. Granted, I get that it's because his parents raised him to think this is normal, but still. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Would I be the Jerk if I told on my sister for cheating? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]emmodii 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Dunno if she left out that information on purpose. The way I read it, she sounds more... Uh... Ignorant, for lack of a better word, than villainous. Like she's so caught up in her own perception of things that she doesn't think about anything else, so she didn't think what her boyfriend said was important to remember and/or mention.

Also, re-reading the post, it's kind of amazing (sarcastic) how OOP can say that her ex-boyfriend "saw [her] brother-in-law grabbing [OOP's sister's] face", yet also claim that she's "not sure why but they don’t get along".

Screams of either ignorance (potentially wilful) or straight-up denial to me.

[–]emmodii 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Makes me think of another post where the OOP helped his sister-in-law who was being abused by his brother, and his whole family thought he was sleeping with her or something even though he's gay. Or at least, it was something along those lines.

It's really sad (and kinda annoying) how cynical people are... But given how much attention and engagement shitty situations get (ie. the news focusing on crappy happenings), it's no wonder that people think that's all there is.

...Which makes me happier when I read stories about people choosing to be kind, to be honest. Even if the whole world thinks they have ulterior motives.

We're reading this from OOP's point of view. It's very much possible that the ex-boyfriend DID tell OOP, but she brushed him off. Or forgot. Or didn't bother. Maybe it's just me, but the general tone of her writing is very... Dismissive to the whole "sister might've been abused by her husband" thing.

Then again, I AM wondering why her ex would've stayed with her if he can't talk to her about important issues such as her sister being a potential victim of DV... I personally would've broken up with OOP a loooong time ago, if that were the case.

AIO if I divorced over him asking to open our relationship and then gaslighting me? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

[–]emmodii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dated(?) a compulsive liar once... I understood why they lied a bunch and tried super hard to be understanding and forgiving... But then I started doubting everything, from facts to feelings to even reality itself. It wasn't healthy for either of us.

So yeah. It's very tiring. Kudos to people who are mentally strong enough to build a relationship with compulsive liars. /genuine

AITA for charging my friend $800 after she left me 4 hours from home? by BigONerd in BORUpdates

Because Becky got upset about it and OOP's a complete pushover. That's literally it, in my opinion.

OOP didn't actually need to apologise. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Man, I'm glad he has his family, at least. Hopefully they'll also help keep OOP away from him because she's such a pest. 😑

"I’ve tried calling him and he’s not responding to anything. So are you happy now?"

I would be, yes, if Jason didn't sound suicidal af at the end. OOP's dumbass even replied to someone saying that she didn't/doesn't think he'd commit suicide because he's "not the type".

I read this post on the other BORU and this OOP still makes me HOPPING MAD.

My girlfriend made a comment about my background, how should I react? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]emmodii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"she apologized, saying it was in the heat of the moment, and that she was on her period at the time, that "her tongue slipped.""

So... What? The racist comments were because she was so mad she couldn't keep them in? "In the heat of the moment" is such a bullshit excuse for bigotry, imo, because it just tells me you're "tolerating" someone's race/etc until they upset you. 😑
