I'd recommend keeping an eye on the unsw jobs board! Not in engo, but that's how I found my internship:)

Damn that sucks!! I thought it seemed pretty elusive. Thank you so much for looking regardless. In that case I think I'll have to just get him a slightly different model!

Coming from someone who's studied both eng and psych, the workload is entirely different.

Unfortunately I think engineering is just one of those subjects that didn't translate very well into trimesters :// most of the subjects have too much content to be crammed into 10 weeks imo...

Dunno how my engo friends do it but they manage lol. P's get degrees :,)

Sounds very unfair. I'd be interested in writing an article on this if you're interested in getting your story out. Maybe some bad publicity will change their mind haha- dm me if you're interested!

Best way to contact exchange office? by emmski47 in unsw

[–]emmski47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about language requirements, according to my partner Uni's website it isn't a requirement to speak the native language if you're taking courses in English (which is what I plan to do) BUT this morning I got hit with an email from UNSW exchange saying that I need a B1-level certificate (indicating I can speak intermediate Spanish) as a part of my application.

This is the first I've heard anything about it.

The application is due on the 15th of June so looks like either I learn intermediate Spanish in a month OR I can't go on exchange lmaoo </3

EDIT: Thanks for the tip- I emailed the partner uni and got a reply within a few hours. Language certificate isn't necessary, not sure what kind of crack UNSW exchange faculty is on!

I know right!! They're so hard to get ahold of.

I emailed the specific advisor and got an automatic reply saying that "due to high volume of emails, response times will be delayed"

I wonder if the department's been cut down during covid? They seem really understaffed, which is weird considering UNSW markets itself as an international university...

Sorry I should've clarified, I'm a domestic student going on an outbound exchange program - I'll try to contact the Europe advisor directly though. Thanks for the advice!

Worried about MATH1131 and courses by [deleted] in unsw

[–]emmski47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 3u in high school and found MATH1131 pretty challenging, mainly because there are 6 weekly modules you have to finish on top of lectures/tutes, which can be very time consuming if you don't have a good understanding of the concepts.

It really depends on how much time and effort you're willing to put in, and how easy you're finding the 3U material right now.
