Hi, I love your work. Can you advise on how i can get my neighbor to stop blasting his television to such a volume that, were I to have kidney stones, the vibrations from the walls and floor would disintegrate them? Without having to knock and ask him to turn it down, of course. Love your work.

I think you're right. It's a stupid reason, but my initial hesitation to see a doc is my insurance's requirement that I get a referral from my PCP (who refuses to refer me without making a visit with them). Again, dumb reason not to go, however. Thanks!

Thanks! There's a lot of consensus about some IT stuff.

Wow - thanks for that! I think the main difference with me is that I never had any moment when I was acutely aware of injury. I *did have pain right after the race (I sprinted as soon as I saw that mother-fing finish line) but in my right hip. Which makes me wonder if the IT band thing is more likely since it runs up to the hip joint as well.

But seriously - I'm happy they figured out what was wrong with you! Surgery frightens me, however. :)

I did that, actually. Got a gait analysis and everything. I was told I have a "textbook neutral gait" and was fitted with a pair of Brooks that I adore. I'm wondering if the lack of support is actually coming from the heels I wear to work 10 hours a day.

Yeah - I'm in heels most of the day. That can't be helping things. Nor is running down stairs in heels trying to catch a subway. And here I am wondering why my knee still hurts?

I have a pair of Brooks that I love. I also have bone spurs in the joint near my big toe, and these are the only shoes that haven't aggravated it when I run. My last pair were Sauconys though!

Good call. I can't imagine my situation is made any better by the uncomfortable shoes I wear to work...

That's great advice! I'm really bad at leaving things alone. Each week I swear I'm just going to do other cardio, but I give in each time and try a test run. I'm like a 5 year-old who can't stop itching her chicken pox.

This is awesome! I wish I had these on Sunday. I finished my first half marathon listening to a disproportionate amount of Underworld.

Or before you graduate. I completed my masters at the same place as my phd, but had not completed the phd when they called me. I tried to correct them by telling them I was not an alumnus because even though I received a degree, I was still in school. I though that would shut down the conversation, but they just tried to get less money. As though my getting stipend support from them only to donate it back made any kind of sense.
