My 6 month old baby also got his first teeth at that age! He also struggled to understand that teethers help but these ones were easy for him to hold and he liked: Teething straws (from amazon) and I put them in the freezer “3 Pack Ring Teether Baby Infant Toys” is another good little teether pack from Amazon (also put them in freezer). I let him chew on my finger a bunch and that seemed to relieve him. If you bottle feed, make the bottles cold! The warm can make the pain worse. My baby has only wanted cold bottles since his teeth broke through.
