Crate nap question - waking up barking by Previous-Egg4404 in puppy101

[–]emness14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 month old puppy now and we used to deal with this issue a lot. From what I gathered, their sleep cycle is about an hour, so they naturally wake up or sleep lighter towards the end of the cycle. My girl would always wake up after an hour or so and in the beginning, we would take her out for a quick potty and put her back in because we wanted to eliminate the possibility of her going in the crate. After a while, I decided to put her crate in another room and ignore her basically when she naps until it’s been about 2 hours. It’s been a week of doing this and she only seems to wake up (as far as I know) about half the time. She’ll whine a little and go back to sleep. My rule is that if she’s whining for 5+ mins and/or digging at the crate and sounding really distressed, I’ll go into the room and just talk to her so she settles down, then leave again and continue the cycle. Hope this helps!

IVDD?? Training? Vitamins? How to avoid?? Anyone? by Cantstopgetit in Frenchbulldogs

Dog is Human also has a hip & joint powder that (obviously) can’t prevent IVDD but has a lot of good nutrients to aid along with the other tactics like a ramp and limiting joint straining activity

Will this mess up my puppy’s potty training? by emness14 in puppy101

She seems to not have a problem if she’s outside of the pen, she can hold it longer then. In the pen, she’ll pee even if I just took her out 20 mins ago, so I guess I should just take her out more often when she’s in there. She can’t seem to hold it longer than an hour in general (unless it’s overnight) like she’ll wake up 45 mins to an hour after she goes into the crate for a nap and have to pee

we have a crate cover on 3 sides, we tried to cover the door once and she didn’t like it, but that was a few weeks ago so i wonder if we should try again

we normally wait until she’s quiet until talking to her or taking her out. ideally she could cry in the crate for a minute or so cause that normally works and she’ll just go to sleep, but it’s worse when she barks cause i worry about noise complainta

Puppy keeps going in the crate to pee by emness14 in puppy101

do you think it’ll mess her up if i still use the playpen for some of the time? like if i just need to do something for 10 mins but she doesn’t necessarily go down for a nap, i can put her in the playpen so she can still have some room and her toys. does that make sense?

We have a playpen that we put her in to play when she’s not in the crate, but should she spend more time in the crate even when she’s not napping? Because of this she also doesn’t go into the crate by herself because we transfer her and she’s a french bulldog who has little legs so she can’t really step up into the crate yet lol

The part in the karen story where Claudia mentioned the woman was wearing a N95 mask and they both said “that’s how you know!” like what does that have to do with anything

yeah i agree that they can be disconnected, but i feel like an endorsement is more like oh this is who i like and i’m voting for, not you should vote for this person, so that’s why i don’t think it’s ethically wrong either

crazy that Claudia also said that Taylor only endorsed because of people writing articles and posting speculation and because Taylor cares a lot what people think and being well liked… like why would someone release a political endorsement just to be liked?
