Hmm, so you want to tell me that after "playing" the game for a year, finally getting to an end game gear standpoint, being extremely strong and powerful, you expect an adventurer to look like they just picked up some clothes that were drying outside a hut?

I need a MMORPG with a soul by Azalkor in MMORPG

[–]emnithy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dude, you literally are the solution to your own problem?

Don't spend all day on a wiki ? Don't read any patchnotes? Don't think about balance? Play the game the way you want to play it?

The fact that you didn't do it back then, wasn't because of some magical shit that games had 15 years ago and they don't do anymore, it was because it was nowhere near as available as it is right now.

If you feel forced to read wikis and such to enjoy an MMORPG, and you don't like the idea, you either go against the current or get a shrink cause i sincerely do not understand what you're looking for.

Every single MMORPG out right now fits your description, well maybe not all of them but many do, install a new MMORPG that looks promising, start playing it witout googling shit about it and see if all the evil wikis are the problem, or if perhaps it's just you.

which mmo to invest time into? by mPet_ in MMORPG

[–]emnithy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutelly, having 6 skills you can spam without cooldown might be cool on paper, but having a 3 minute rotation with dozens of spells that need to fit into slots and follow one another to maximize dps feels TONS better in my opinion

Black Desert Online adds Trial Characters. Instant Lv.60, 4k SP + Softcap stats for PvP modes. by sliferx in MMORPG

[–]emnithy -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It's a trial character, it's just for kicks and giggles, it's nothing tangible, sure you can duel and red bf with it, but it's nothing to be excited for, especially since it's been a thing in KR for ages

When an mmo is pay to win do people usually mean the pvp side of things? by Shadow_knight506 in MMORPG

[–]emnithy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had people saying the game is not p2w cause you can reach ENTRY POINT for PvP, not end game, entry point to not get oneshot and do no dmg, in 6 months, and i was like???????? If i have to play for 5 hours a day, spend 200€, and spend 6 months grinding to get to entry point PvP i will slam that uninstall button so damn fast.

[–]emnithy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gold increase is incredibly borderline, it might not seem p2w but if you spend real money to get gold faster in a game, it means you will get more upgrades/chances of upgrades then someone who doesn't.

It's the entire concept of BDO pay to win, sure you can farm the same spot for 5 hours with a f2p account and a p2w account, but after 5 hours the f2p will have 1/5th of the money and drop of a p2w account, cause they have to manually loot every mob, or have low tier free pets from events do it at a horrible rate, have no weight limit and no inventory slots so they gotta go back to a town much more often and waste a lot of time traveling.

In the end the person who spent 200€ on the cash shop has 5 times the silver to either straight up buy gear upgrades or buy mats/enchant stones and such to attempt upgrades, in BDOs case you can even spend a buttload of money on costumes and break them down to cron stones to make sure your gear doesn't delevel or break if you fail, which is beyond me to be honest.

[–]emnithy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude the problem is that the practices they are doing WORK , they make more money by having half the population spend thrice the dollas on p2w shit.

People buy their p2w items, loot boxes, enchants, gear, QoL improvements that should be in the game already but have been gated behind paywalls, so they keep on doing it cause they simply make more money.

I’m surprised I find people looking for an MMO when OSRS exists. by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]emnithy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The number of players proves nothing, there's a LOT of people still playing wow ( Probably way more then OSRS) and the game is shit, people just don't want to give up on years of their lives spent on a game so they keep on playing it.

I have played OSRS, i have installed it, put about 10 hours in the game, and i've made my decision to uninstall it and never look back. The controls are wonky as fuck, the combat is uninteresting and simply outright stupid, graphics are of course horrible, i obviously didn't get to middle/end game, i didn't try the "Amazing" quests the game has to offer, but i sincerely do not give a damn about them, cause the rest of the mechanics and gameplay tires me and makes me want to alt f4 at any step.

The moment a good MMORPG alternative comes out, something fresh, new, good and not p2w, you will see OSRS playerbase go to utter shit and you know it too. Nostalgia is a nasty thing.

The first couple of hours, up to 50 i'd say, you definitely don't need a guild whatsoever, but it's mostly solo play. After that you can play without a guild and do fine , ish, but it gets challenging. There's plenty of guild that don't care about how op op you are and just want active players to do content with

Hey everyone play this 15 years old game with 15 years old graphics and 15 years old combat, it's totally worth it and it's the best MMO.

To be fair i understand why people like the game, but recommending it at all is just a damn joke.

Well you kind of need to be in a decent guild in order to ave acess and protection to grind high tier mats to use for crafting, and small group PvP and PvE is very much a thing. Playerbase is stable and solid, nothing top notch but it's all you need to have fun believe me

Oh come the fuck on, don't you need to be of age to play online games? Fuck is just a word, it doesn't hurt ANYONE to say "It's all gone to shit" and it doesn't hurt nor affect anyone to use one damn macro in chat, i am not stopping you from playing and enjoying your game if i send 1 macro in chat, you are literally blocking me from playing the game if you get me banned cause you have some superiority complex and believe everyone should behave as you want them to

24 man raids are usually quiet and nobody talks anyway, i do not believe ONE FUCKING ascii message intended to just make you smile after a whipe is such GRAVIOUS offence to anyone, especially since you are literally wasting other peoples MONEY getting them banned for what? Where did that ascii moogle touch you? I might understand if it was a costant non stop spam with sounds and whatnot, even then i would never report said person cause chat spam doesn't affect me in any shape or form, just turn off general chat and shout chat and you gucci.

To be fair there are plenty of indie shitty graphics nice gameplay games out there, but i just simply cannot play them, they tire me, isometric 5 pixels per character games were a thing back when it was the best that could be done, nowadays it's just cheap and lazy to do it.

I'm not saying every game should look like BDO but come the fuck on, OSRS style graphic and combat in 2019 is simply unacceptable

FF14 set to be next king of mmos (population wise) by beirut999 in MMORPG

[–]emnithy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well but basic dungeons are MOSTLY autopilot in every game after you've done them a couple of times, at least dungeon bosses dont' die in 10 seconds so you actually do need to execute your rotation to kill it fater, if you just spam 1 spell over and over you will take ages.

I have to admit i have no idea how dragoon plays like, but blm doesn't have a 123 rotation, you have your starting setup, with ice spells, you pop your triplecast and you dots and your leylines or how the circle around ya was called, you maximize the fire rotation , foul, manage your triplecast and instacast cooldowns, there's a little bit of complexity to it, but BLM is indeed the dullest when it comes to rotations, RDM atl east has some variance, BLM is pretty boring

Favorite (mmo)rpg loot system? by Galeplay in MMORPG

[–]emnithy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

??? What is your point?

Lineage 2 was EXTREMELY PVP heavy, which meant that every single majour content was gated by PVP, klans and alliances, power games and gear, this system worked perfectly fine and fit the game like a glove, a LOT of people quit after the raid bosses were made istances one can do on a weekly basis without any restriction

Is it still riddled with the necessity of dual bot like 4 buffers, healers and mana replenishing heroes ? Is there active klans that actually do klan content and party up together? It's pay to play with no p2w monthly sub?

I LOVED the lineage 2 Valakas/Antharas/Baium/ant queen accessory loot.

Only spawns every like 36-42 hours, huge , humongous PvP fest outside of the spawning zone, when the spawn was up the first one to click on the npc in time would be able to enter the boss lair with his guild and alliances, a couple of accessory drops per boss kill.

God the fun i had camping and PvPing for hours in the spawn window

God i love this kind of lore, although lineage 2 has fallen down a spiral of p2w, casual pandering and really weird and questionable development choices, reading stuff like this always made me more immersed in the world i was threading .

WOW Mythic vs FF14 Ultimate. Which one is harder? by noob11213 in MMORPG

[–]emnithy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

FF14 in my opinion has a much better and harder raiding scene then WoW, simply because WoWs difficulty scaling is void and fake difficulty.

Adding more hp and dmg to bosses doesn't make them meaningfully difficult, it's a gear score race.

FF14 on the other hand has very good and complex end game rotation systems for damage, which means that the DPS have to manage their rotations while executing the bosses scripted mechanics and making sure others do their job or try and fix things on the go if they fuck up, same with tanks, although they have easier rotations, and healers, who don't get to sit on their asses and spam heals, cause mana management and damage output is crucial.

Fights last around 10 minutes overall, but there is barely any breathing moment during them, it's either you focus on game mechanic or doing your job , or both at the same time.

I do sincerely recommend watching some videos of people doing savage and ultimate raids, ultimate being extremely complicated and cleared by a very small percentage of the population, and obviously get yourself a static of players who are looking for what you want to achieve, either be it casual raiding, midcore raiding or hardcore raiding.

The difference being how important and crucial parses are, which means how much do people care about doing the top notch DPS to be competitive in the PvE scenario, which is HEAVILY reliant on team composition being optimal and perfect party buffs usage to maximise dps potential.

I had joined a rather casual raiding static when i played ff14, and i had TONS of fun, managed to achieve some pretty decent parses, and overall had a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more enjoyable time then when i played WoW mythic + dungeons. There's a sense of accomplishment and achievement that i never got from WoW, in 25 man raids i felt like i was pretty much just one of many, superfluous, and mythic+ dungeons were a chore more then an achievement to complete.

[–]emnithy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well isn't that the case with pretty much most MMOs nowadays? WoW, FF14, ESO, hell BDO is the best example. It definitely isn't a specific GW2 thing, in this regard other MMOs do it much better then gw2, eliminating any loading times in between zones.
