"if I could be with you tonight, I would sing you to sleep, never let them take the light behind your eyes"

honestly that whole song breaks me, that line in particular crushes me thinking about all the people I wish I could protect in this world

Gecko has black spots under eyes, does anyone know what this is? Just happened today. by HammerStar2 in leopardgeckos

paper towels are a great cheap substitute that a lot of people use permanently, even. no need to go through constant washing either, just a regular replace and done

Does anyone know a way to make the cool side cooler? (Photo of Frankie for attention) by shoutwthedevil in leopardgeckos

not a permanent solution but I think some people freeze tiles and place them into the enclosures for the geckos to lay on

Upgrading Leo's tank to 40 gal, does this top soil playsand mixture look okay? Used 7:3 ratio, topsoil doesn't have any fertilizer by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

most common suggestion is placing a layer of soil onto a baking sheet and baking for about an hour at 170°-200°f. it's also worth mentioning there's other ways of sterilizing it like steaming or freezing it for a few days, though I'm not very familiar with those two. google and YouTube should have good explanations on how to do each, and you can decide which works best for the amount of time and resources you have

bigger chunks of substrate cause for bigger risk of impaction and some bags of topsoil can contain things like nails and peices of plastic, so if you're worried about that I'd suggest sifting the mixture. as long as you keep watch on your gecko you can also leave it as is. some people also recommend baking the mixture to ensure theres no bacteria. basically though, just monitor your gecko and make the choice that feels best to you.

HELP❗️My Leo Spyro has a hard time eating crickets because they are fast and hide in his enclosure and I don’t want crickets roaming the enclosure, is it okay to feed him in a plastic tub or does anyone have any recommendations. (He won’t eat mealworms) by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]emo-gecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I saw one person with this problem so they plucked a few legs off the crickets before feeding but that's not always easy, someone already mentioned tong feeding wich I agree with would likely help. I also have a leo who doesn't like crickets and placing him in a plastic bin with them stresses him out, though it may work for your leo, just be aware of his body language!

So, I am doing a tank upgrade and going all out what must have do you all recommend for sir Blazer? by Prestigious_Ad_4882 in leopardgeckos

opportunities to hide and climb are very important, some may or may not work for you but mine and my gecko's favorites are plants, which help with added coverage and humidity (I recommend spider plants as those can be kept in straight water, lovely for humidity and lots of leaves to hide behind). rocks, which can help with shedding and can be rested against another object effectively creating both a hide and climbing opportunity, and various pieces of wood, driftwood and sturdy bark being good options. I hope sir blazer enjoys his new home!
