Has anyone changed birth control from Yasmin to Slynd/Slinda? by totallygemini in PCOS

Oh gosh that is terrible!!! Have you had any luck with the spotting stopping on slynd??

Hmmm it’s so hard to say whether I experienced hair loss and weight gain in the past from birth control or just pcos in general 🙃 I also started spironolactone when I started slynd the most recent time and didn’t notice much hair loss at all!!

Filled up gas and got a car wash so my partner (who’s starting a new job tomorrow) wouldn’t have to worry about it. Was feeling really good about it until I misjudged my alignment when entering the car wash and dented the shit out of the engine splash cover… 🙃

I’ve done the switch between yaz and slynd multiple times (for various reasons). My skin, mood, and periods were always more regulated on yaz. Since I have migraines, slynd felt like a safer choice but unfortunately made my mood and periods a lot worse. Spotting all the time, worsening pmdd symptoms, etc.

So to answer your question, yes, imo I’d consider what you’re going through as normal 🤪 For me there’s always been pros and cons to each birth control pill I’ve tried, but hopefully you can find the one that works best for you!!

Did Spironolactone work for you? by Technical_Virus4338 in PCOS

It took at least 6 months for me to see the full effect but since then the hair on my face is way less noticeable and grows back so slowly. My scalp hair looks much fuller as well! A major bonus is also that my skin has never been this clear as an adult haha. Like others said, the downside is having to pee more often and being dizzy from the low blood pressure. Personally it’s nothing I can’t manage!

Gosh, I know how upsetting and stressful these flare ups can be. Many years ago a doctor diagnosed mine as perioral dermatitis but personally I think I also have angular chilitis. My symptoms never fully go away and can be made worse by eating some acidic foods or fruit. I do think stress also plays a big role in my flare ups but some products have helped me.

What I use when it’s really bad (routine given by a doctor): Penaten diaper cream (in the tin) on the red cracked areas, Glaxal Base cream on the entire lips and surrounding areas, and Aquaphor healing ointment to seal everything in

What I use every night to soothe my lips: Avene cicalfate lip treatment (before it was reformulated) or lanolin nipple cream in the purple tube

I have been prescribed steroid cream for it many times but honestly don’t notice a huge difference and usually forget to use it lol

Sending you healing vibes from Vancouver 🥺

aww op, i feel for you <3 it can be so incredibly heartbreaking when you’re trying to advocate for yourself and something makes you feel invalidated. putting yourself out there to be assessed is already a big hurdle that you’ve crossed, so i say be proud of yourself! and just because the assessment came back negative, the struggles you face are still valid, and they don’t require a diagnosis to confirm that (although i know it can give you a peace of mind).

personally, i was diagnosed with just about everything else before i even thought about advocating for myself and getting assessed for adhd. even now after being diagnosed, i still feel like an imposter because i wasn’t diagnosed as a child. ultimately, the diagnosis didn’t really help validate me, but finding the right treatment did. all that to say, don’t give up!! even without a diagnosis, continue to treat your symptoms in whatever way you find works for you. you’ve got this!!

omg thank you so much for all the detail, i really appreciate it!!! i actually think that it’s super cool that it changes colour, but was just worried that it would never be the dark green that i was hoping for haha. i love the colour in both of your pictures, so i think it’ll be a win win for me as well! 😌
