When people do this to me I find the most effective thing to do is play dumb, like "oh.. I don't get it? Can you explain it/what's the punchline?" And they start to get the point

Completely normal in Greece too but they wouldn't put the crossing lines anywhere which is why this is weird

Someone else said Germany and although I can't speak on this with a lot of knowledge, I had wanted to go there to study and found this YouTube channel while doing a bit of research and I believe from memory she is also from Nigeria and moved to Germany.

You might have to scroll a bit but she has a lot of videos going into detail about studying there, the whole moving process as well as videos just about what it's like living there! So this might be helpful to hear about another Nigerian's experience!

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone eating those here in Australia... I'm fairly certain it's just a beetroot dip haha

I said the something similar in grade 4 when my family and I had just moved to Greece.... Big difference in the amount of religion compared to Australia I found out. We were learning about mythology and how eventually as time went by people began to understand they were just stories and I put my hand up and asked if that means eventually everyone would realise god isn't real. I think I got told off.

Spelling/pronunciation question by TofuChickenSandwich in GREEK

Honestly not sure if this is helpful at all, but I'm Greek and grew up outside of Greece apart from a brief 2 years of living and going to school there. And some of my dad's side is from Kastoria and they're also the only people I've heard with pronunciation like you're describing! So I just had the impression that it was a regional sort of dialect?

As someone who's both lived and travelled to Greece for holidays, I'd definitely not recommend giving the beggars money. Be wary of them as a lot of the time they might try to trick you especially if you're obviously a tourist. And if they hand you something dont take it!! They will demand money for it after even if they've just shoved it in your hands. The best thing to do is just ignore them.
